I loved it. I like Jeff, but anytime he isn't good at a game he just gets salty as fuck and blames the game so I love watching him lose. Jeff and Brad literally coordinated zero compared to where Drew and Dan were actually talking and working together. It isn't a hard concept.

As with Metal Gear, ignore Dan's assessment of the rules AT ALL TIMES. He's a tricky one but you must not listen.

The most shocking thing is that Dan knew who Franz Ferdinand was.

I don't even know how long Ghost Jason was there before I realised. I only noticed when Brad started to talking to him then walked into his Ghost Zone

British troops did indeed fight in formation back then. Here's a hilarious quote from a british officer who had some things to say about american revolutionaries.

"American rifleman conceal themselves behind trees etc. till an opportunity presents itself of taking a shot at our advance sentries, which done, they immediately retreat. What an unfair method of carrying on a war!"

The idea that the Americans used a lot of guerrilla tactics is a myth.

It's really interesting that after all the talk that VR games have to be slow - maybe even use teleporting in order not to make you sick - that it then turns out that one of the faster FPS games from the 90's is one of the best VR experiences.

@jonny_anonymous: The critically acclaimed biography of Alexander Hamilton I'm holding, written by a Pulitzer prize winning historian and author, from which I got that excerpt which is from an actual letter from a British soldier, disagrees with you. If you want to say they didn't matter as much as people typically think they did, then I'd agree, but they were definitely employed quite a lot and there seems to be plenty of evidence that the British complained about it like a bunch of whiners and/or were unsettled by it.

They did use it but only in small engagements and probably not as much as the British did considering the vast majority of Native Americans sided with the British and the Scottish units were also adept at that style of war. And even then, considering the kind of weaponry used then it would be almost impossible to fight a war based on guerrilla tactics.

The guy that's mad at Americans for not knowing "enough" about the European fronts of wars from a century ago...that guy owns so hard.

Y'know who owns even harder? The guy mad at Dan Ryckert for not knowing something.

I'm going to sit here and be hypocritical as hell because I'm unreasonably mad about Dan splitting Churchill/Roosevelt/Stalin into vague "good guys" and "bad guys".

I was interested in playing that push me pull you game at PAX and when i tried it out it was such garbage. It absolutely has the issues Jeff and Brad were complaining about with not having any leverage. I noticed Jeff was actually being really forgiving about it.

@cale: I'm just genuinely perplexed as to how they can know almost nothing about probably the darkest period in human history. I wasn't trying to be funny or a smart arse when I asked if they don't teach history in US schools. I'm seriously curious.

Per the Battlefield 1 talk, its important to remember ww1, contrary to popular belief, was not all trench warfare all the time. The beginning of the war saw huge clashes of highly mobile armies across France, Germany and Austria-Hungary, it had large landings like at Gallipoli in Turkey, fighting between Russian and Turkish forces, mountain warfare in Italy, etc.

and when it did settle down into Trench warfare, it never really did settle down, armies quickly found ways to clear trenches and had many ways to flank and tank them over.

By going a more action packed route, theyre not making it any less of a ww1 game. Theres ample opportunity to make trench warfare just one trope among many

I thought that moving around with WASD in VR made a person instantly sick, which is why everything is doing teleport from point to point. I wonder why it's completely fine in Doom. Also, if the Oculus is moving the cursor, and the mouse is too, how does that work?

@dr34dn0ught: Did your school teach you about World War 1? Everything I know about it has come from learning on my own outside of school because I never chose history as a subject. WW2 was briefly touched upon but it definitely wasn't in-depth or anything. This was school in the UK, not America.

Even if they did learn about the Wars I think it's common to forget a lot of the things you learned at school but don't have any real interest in, I know I have forgotten a whole lot.
