There were some really bad audio and video issues during the stream and Drew had to break it up into pieces to archive it. He said the fully archived version should have no problems and intact audio.

Anyways, I hope that this doesn't just put the breaks on VinnyVania. It would be cool to see you guys move through the other games. I haven't been up on my Castlevania for a long time.

Also glad to see the NES was so forward-thinking to include proprietary Microsoft wireless protocols n'ere conceived, let alone the USB standard not even widely prototyped 'till around a decade later.

Not really sure why Vinnie keeps going for the holy water when its 100% useless in the dracula fight...also, he reacts poorly to Dracula showing up, he walks through him instead of turning around.

In closing.

I told you that Vinny can use the boomerang on ground level to get rid of Dracula's projectiles and so wouldn't hit the candles, leaving the one with the holy water in it safe. You said: "Sessh says to use the boomerang because it won't hit the candles. Hm, that seems wrong."

You did correct yourself about the ground level part a few minutes later, though.

It's painful because it totally seems doable, but the controls for the game are SO BAD.

Can't blame Jeff dozing off...I really want them to be done with this already and move on to more adventures. Can't personally wait for Super Castlevania!

This is going to be great.

This really drives home why I think Castlevania is straight up a bad game. The jump is garbage, the stairs are garbage, the enemies can be cheap as hell especially with the player knockack, the bossfights can be cheesed and are frustrating otherwise, and lastly Dracula sucks rocks like a mother.

It's fascinating to review in retrospect and its place in history is cemented but fuck this game.

Just open VinnyVania Part 4 with a youtube video of someone beating Dracula and be like "Way to go Vinny! I guess that wasn't total goddamn bullshit after all. Let's start Simon's Quest."

I'll be interested to see what the GB crew makes of the credits when Vinny finally kills ole' Drac.

In particular who "plays" the monsters.

This was my first NES game and it took me months to beat Dracula, not to mention reach the castle, so Vinny's doing pretty well considering it's only his third day playing. His timing is just off, plus an LCD monitor and XBOX d-pad are delaying his reaction times.

Not sure how interesting Simon's Quest will be to watch. It's mostly gonna be Vinny running around lost while the chat screams conflicting information.
