Seriously. It's awful. I can barely get through the opening to MGS4.

I liked it in MGS and MGS2, but for some reason found it a bit too much on the gravelly side with MGS4.

Yes. You are probably the only person who hates Snake's voice. I don't even like the MGS series, but I love Snake's voice.

I understand why people might dislike it, but I can't imagine it being any other way.

Personally I think Snakes voice suits him perfectly.
 
Although I prefer David Hayters performance in Snake Eater the most.

i like his voice. i just don't like the way he ends his sentences with this weird tone sometimes. it's hard to explain.

Well, I can get why you might not like it, but it totally suit's Snake's character. David Hayter is a really good voice actor in my opinion. 
Now, here are some voices that are REALLY worth hating: 
-Ramon Salazar (Resident Evil 4) 
-Scout (Team Fortress 2) 
-Cole McGrath in the inFAMOUS 2 Trailer 
-Pretty much everyone from the Star Fox series

For such a ridiculous plot, you need a ridiculous voice. His matches perfectly.

I do love his voice.

Snakes voice is one the best out there.

His voice is amazing; David Hayter does a great job. 

I'm not as much of a fan of his voice as I am of his character. Snake is a much more well written character than most video game characters.

I haven't played any of the MGS games but I don't think Snake's voice is bad.

Hayter's best Snake voice was MGS1's. What the hell happened?

Even Kojima himself has said that he likes the english voices better than the Japanese ones, Snake included.
