Before Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd was the mascot of Sega. He was well-recognized by the public for his appearances in Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle. Alex Kidd is the titular protagonist of his respective series, who, although no longer the main mascot, continues to appear in several Sega-related video games and cameos in several other media.
Fifteen year-old Alis is the main protagonist of Phantasy Star. She would eventually be celebrated as a hero for her efforts and known the world over.

The EggRobo is one of the badniks featured in Sonic & Knuckles which appears on the Sky Sanctuary Zone. During the Knuckles play through one survives the destruction of the Death Egg and serves as the boss at end of each level.
Gilius is a character from the Golden Axe series. He wields an axe and strikes down anyone who happens to get in his way.
Hans is an archer that joins your party in Shining Force. He can be premoted to Bow Master.
Harrier runs to war in an effort to maintain peace in the Fantasy Zone.
Heather (Fingy in Japan) is a protaganist in the game Dynamite Headdy.
Hugh Thompson is a supporting character in Phantasy Star II. As a Biologist his specialty is fighting against organic monsters.
Joe Musashi is a ninja who appears in many of the games of Sega's Shinobi series.
Josh Kain is a supporting character in Phantasy Star II. As a Wrecker his specialty is battling against machines and robotic enemies.
Ken Oh is the first boss of Shinobi.
