Easily the original Soul Calibur on the DreamCast for me, that game still holds up amazingly well, everything past Soul Calibur II was excess.
Soul
Soul Calibur is a weapon-based fighting game about two magical swords. Soul Edge is an evil blade of destruction and Soul Calibur is the sword of light. Viewed as the ultimate weapons, the combatants fight to see who will wield the weapons and change the fate of the world.
Favorite Soul Calibur?
You are missing Soul Calibur Legends and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny.
" You are missing Soul Calibur Legends and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny. "Those are spin-offs.
You know what, I probably put the most time into IV because of the character creation. 1 and 2 were both very good too. 1 especially had that more compelling weapon master mode, or whatever. If SCIV had that, it would have been the best SC ever.
Soul Edge just had the awesome intro song.
Another reason why the original Soul Calibur is my favorite is because that was before Namco felt they absolutely HAD to put ill fitting tie-in characters in every new installment, though Kratos works decently enough in Broken Destiny.
Agreed! That game blew me out of the water when the dreamcast arrived... The only other fighting game that managed something near that was Tekken 3." @Emandudeguyperson said:

Also, it was the one I had the most fun with. Even liked the singleplayer-part! Unlocking stuff and whatnot.

1 & 2 were great, missed out on 3 (not sure why I had a PS2 I guess I just didn't care) 4 is lots of fun just for its online mode.
Wow, you fail, at least that's better then holding down the R trigger and forward on the analog stick for 10 hours." Essentialy, all fighting games are button mashers. Hurm. "
Also, fighting games require an extreme amount of tact.

People who call Soul Calibur or DOA button mashers have no idea how to play the game. Just because you can make characters move and attack onscreen while mashing the buttons, that doesn't mean that you'll actually consistently beat someone who knows how to play the games (ie someone who can easily and effectively counter and reverse you).
The one where Ivy's boobs are the most out of proportion is the best of course
Real fighting game fans play Street fighter, people who like button mashing and polygonal breasts play Soul Calibur

Your taking my not so thought out opinion way too seriously (I played maybe 3 matches of Soul calibur in my life)

I have the fondest memories of Soul Calibur 2, personally. I played that game for hours upon hours when it came out.
I also really liked Soul Calibur 4, because of online-play, and how damn gorgeous it looked. The character customization was cool, although not as good as the one from SC3. Never played SC1.
