So from descriptions, this is one of those preachy episodes that takes itself seriously. Considering I haven't enjoyed the series of late, I have a slight feeling this one won't be much different.

I never once thought about Modern Warfare 2 when watching that episode, but who knows? They do create episodes just a few days before release, so it would be possible.

Son of a fucking bitch. This was an oddly placed and poorly titled thread.

Anyway, yes it was an obvious link. They make each episode within a week. There should have been enough time from when it was posted on the 30th (immediate backlash) to the time it aired on the 4th. There are times where the episode title isn't even announced until the day it airs.

I don't think Trey Parker or Matt Stone give a fuck about MW2's Viral Video, I think as usual they're attacking the absurdity of being offended by a word (something they've done for many many many years) and that as far as words go they're constantly changing. And as they pointed out in the episode itself, that 'Fag' hasn't always been used as an insult specifically for gay people, doesn't have to mean gay etc etc.

The idea that f** has no connection towards homophobia has existed long before the MW2 issue and this South Park episode. I love South Park, but their latest episodes are lagging in their pop-culture commentary. They made fun of High School Musical after the third one came out, and the jokes they had about Whale Wars pertained to events that occurred years before.

Still... there are some jokes that will be forever timeless, like this:

@Snipzor: Strange thing about that video is that Sessler really didn't call out Infinity Ward as much as he was telling a nameless audience why they shouldn't use that word.

Its not fair to say that they are lagging in their pop culture commentary just because of those two episodes.. what about all the rest? the obama one ? the dead celebrities ? ......
Plus, correct me if im wrong, but the High School Musical hype DID get twice as much ENORMOUS after the third movie, amirite ? so it was the right time to mock that rediculous popularity it has.

Anyway i just watched it, it was fun and funny :) good old South Park humor. well, no maybe not good OLD sp but its good enough. i dont like being too judgmental. those guys have cracked me up for too long for me to keep asking for 20 minute non-stop-laughter episodes..

And i dont think it was related to the MW2 trailer since it didnt emphasize on the word FAGS itself.

While i agree with the sentiment and believe people just need to calm the fuck down, but words can hurt more then you may know. If you have ever been bullied, picked on or harassed because your different in some way --fat, skinny, short, tall, likes girls, likes guys, black, white, asian, hispanic, or have unpopular opinions etc.-- then you know they can hurt and hurt for a long time.

I just think the video got lucky and happened to come out around the same time and happened to have more of a relevance because of the timing of the MW2 video. Personally i don't think the MW2 video was out of line as they where just trying to appeal to their majority audience, that of the annoying 12 year old who thinks it is cool to say the new bad word they learned that day as loud as they can constantly. I find it hilarious that this gets people so worked up when if you logged onto an online lobby for the game within 5 min you will have been called worse things then fag. Perhaps it is just their way of trying to get people who may be buying the game for the first time accustomed to what they are going to have to listen to if they want to play the game online.
