How is Venom not in this game?  He is the only Spiderman villian I remember from my child hood.

not even then. the movies had a few. plus everyone knows carnage. its sad that venom is the only villain you remember "

Judging by your reactions Venom isn't a very iconic Spiderman villain I guess?

I think it's super funny that Carnage--who is basically universally reviled as a Spider-Man villain--made it into this game, but Venom didn't.  
 
To be fair, Venom's kind of oversaturated the Spider-Man market in the last five years, mostly because of his appearance in Spider-Man 3.  
 
There are cooler villains in the Spider-Man universe. The Goblins, I think, are much more interesting than the Symbiotes. But even then, you've still got Doc Ock and Lizard. 

I imagine they left him out because having Carnage as a villain plus having the player play as a Symbiote Spider-Man was enough symbiote for one game.

Carnage was the villain for the spiderman PS1 game, wasn't he? 

Oh yeah, I remember Doc Oc and Green Goblin... Or atleast I thought he was green goblin.,.. just went by goblin in the game..

Venom just had an entire Spider-man game devoted to him. In fact the last three Spider-man games had him as the last boss. (Web of Shadows, Ultimate Spider-man & Spider-man 3) 
 
I think its ok that they gave him a pass, especially since Carnage is in it. I'm more bummed Rhino and the Lizard arent in it. I guess Shocker too.. nah.

Carnage is the more evil of the two symbiotes anyway.

I thought I heard Venom was in the DS version. I am playing through it now, but haven't made it too far.

How can you only remember Venom?! There are so many popular Spider-Man villains.

We already have the black suit 
We already have Carnage 
 
I could do without any symbiotes from now on....talk about a marketing gimmick going too far. 
Having the last universe as Ultimate was a wasted opportunity....should have been MC2 Spider-Girl.

Venom isn't the best written character and I am a bit annoyed that everyone wants him in everything Spider-Man related especially since Carnage is in the game and is much more of a threat.

Carnage is superior to Venom anyway D:
