So, from the looks of this trailer released a few days ago, it looks like EA may be adding in competitive head-to-head multiplayer to the SSX reboot. This should hopefully get more people to come back to the game if this is really what it looks like it is, head-to-head multiplayer. Seeing as how this game has been dead since like April-May (just mere months after its release), it'll be good to have more people pick it up again like I do every once in a while. No details on if it will just be a free update or if it will be paid DLC (it better not be paid DLC), but the info on the video says "Something new is coming to the mountains of SSX this summer" so I guess we have a rough date on when it will be released, sometime before September 22nd.
SSX
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Feb 28, 2012
The sixth entry in the Snowboard Super X series that allows players to ride down real world mountains in dangerous weather conditions.
EA to add in head-to-head multiplayer?
Is anyone playing this game still? Meant to get it but never did and from what I've heard it's as dead as can be.
the lack of head-to-head multiplayer was the only reason i didn't buy this game, SSX is off my radar now so even when they patch it in i still won't care.

Its really fucking dead. The asynchronous multiplayer has been dead since May, but you can get it for so cheap (around $20 used) so I say jump in. And if you can get a bunch of friends from GB from this thread (Ps3 thread) like I did, then you'll have some fun just trying to beat everyone's scores. And I'm sure that this head-to-head stuff will bring a lot of players back.
shame it's dropping so late after the release. @Redbullet685 is right the mp they had is dead and folks seem to have moved on.
SSX needs and deserves split screen MP it's what I loved in the older games and what I miss in the new one.

Thanks to marvels of asynchronus multiplayer, that doesn't matter at all. And the filet-bits in the package are supreme beef, and it's a big package and a lot of filet. Regardless of what tickles your fancy.
I definitely could see me getting back into it for a spell, and I definitely hope for a more 'trick' focused future iteration of SSX, with more smooth flowing tracks and more forgiving design.
Ontopic: I will play head-2-head trick events 'til my thumbs bleed!
The problem isn't the multiplayer or anything else. The problem is the back half of the tracks that have these sheer drops which lead to your death...and they happen every five seconds on the damn tracks. THOSE ARE NOT FUN! It's the sole thing that made me quit playing - the first time the track had consistent drop-offs with no snow at the bottom, I quit playing it.
The game, beyond that, is fucking EXCELLENT! The RiderNet stuff kept me going big time (even if the payouts were a BIT too hefty). It was simply the track designs that got on my damn nerves. You don't need 100+ tracks. You just need 20 well-designed ones.
The thing that killed it for me with SSX was the tracks with the insane amount of precision that was required. I just want to race down the mountain and my own leisure and throw out as many tricks as I can. The various cliffs and gaping plunges really killed it for me. More power though to anyone else who enjoyed it and is excited for this DLC.
I'm afraid it's too little too late. I played the hell out of it for a solid month before it dropped off for me. The leader board chasing was good for a while, but it can't replace head to head competition.
It was pretty stupid for this not to be a feature in the game right out of the box... Seriously, what were they thinking?
I'd freaking love head to head multiplayer. I wasn't sure why it wasn't in the game to begin with to be honest.

This this this this. Every time this. The stuff around SSX was fine. Hell I never missed head-to-head multiplayer because you zoom past everyone all the time anyway. The freeride mode might be fun and I appreciate them adding it solely on fan request but again why would I want to free ride on tracks that I can die on. Uhhhhh. Serenity and Bulldog will always be well designed I guess :)
So I guess this is out now?

The big question is whether or not the game has split screen now
It doesn't. The 3-2-1 global events are pretty fucking dead too. Hopefully more players will hop on once they realize it's out.So I guess this is out now?
