I need to ask people here. What is the best way to tell that I got the right edition. I don't trust the game store to not have swapped out regular editions with the special ones. So how would I know in the easiest way possible that I got the right edition?

I got this box one.

It is a different box from the one I bought 5 to 6 years ago which is this one.

Are these two boxes ANY different!?

I didn't even know they released a LE of this game. I thought it was only one version in the US

@Jay444111: The top box art was original US release(similar to the japan box art), the bottom was for PS2 greatest hits and later. Should be identical aside from box art.

i got pretty deep into this game once upon a time... then my NPC buddies started sitting out in battles. just.. standing there, motionless, while i got destroyed. i'm still upset about it.

I remember reading something along these lines myself, except it said that those points weren't actually a stat allocation system at all but rather a means to influence the AI. If their attack had many points put into it they'd be more aggressive, while a defense significantly higher than attack meant they wouldn't attack at all, etc. I also remember reading many complaints that the game didn't explain this at all which led to many ruined party members since as far as I recall you couldn't reset them.
