Star Wars - Jedi Knights = Fun

Equal parts tactical strategy game and first-person shooter, Republic Commando proves itself greater than the sum of its parts. Enemy encounters are varied and fun, in a way that only sci-fi shooters can be with their assortment of alien and robotic adversaries. Squad commands are doled out in a system that is about as intuitive as possible, at least until voice recognition works its way into the realm of gaming. On top of it all, great writing that de-emphasizes the Jedi Order does something that George Lucas failed to do; it makes the prequels cool.

Republic Commando is the rare Star Wars game that is more than just a money grab, and you know it because it would be just as good without all of the licensing.

Star Wars Republic Commando was one of my favorite games at last year's E3.  Thankfully, the game has developed nicely in the last nine months.  Republic Commando doesn't necessarily offer much in terms of innovation as it borrows heavily from other games, but thankfully they chose some of the best games of this generation to borrow from.  The HUD has the in-the-helmet view like Metroid.  The gameplay feels much like Halo.  And you are the leader of Delta squad, a four man team of clone sol...
