I had 100k credits by level 25. Thought I'd share a few tips

I've been in SWTOR early access since Tuesday and I've seen a lot of players complaining that they can't scrape together enough money to buy their speeder at level 25.

I actually had 100k credits at level 25 so I did not have that problem at all, so I thought I'd share my technique (not that there is anything fancy to it) which hopefully will be of use to my fellow Star Warring gamers out there.

To keep it short I have 4 tips for you:

1: Pick 3 gathering professions and gather every node you find

2: Sell all your materials on the GTN

3: Sell all your green items on the GTN

4: Don't buy *anything* on the GTN

There's a longer and more elaborate post on these 4 tips that you can find on my blog, in case you'd like a bit more info:

Maybe I should use the GTN instead of vendoring everything. ... Nah, that requires too much effort.

(this post was written in 2005.)

I've been in World of Warcraft since Tuesday and I've seen a lot of players complaining that they can't scrape together enough money to buy their epic mount at level 60.

I actually had 1000 gold at level 59 so I did not have that problem at all, so I thought I'd share my technique (not that there is anything fancy to it) which hopefully will be of use to my fellow World of Warcraft gamers out there.

Reminds me the good old days of WoW. :P

I spent more time at the Auction House/farming leather than I did leveling. I had enough for my mount (vanilla days) at level 15.

    I'm a sick fucking person >.>.

@stinky: Well he specifically mentions the GNT (auction house) and picking up harvesting skills to maximise income. Just selling everything you loot during quests to vendors and picking better professions wont yield nearly as much money.

The gist is correct though. :P

I have about 10K already and I'm level 11. This was by using the vendors on the first planet I was on. Seems easy. Once I get to auction house should be even easier to make money.

@Jack268: Yep, certainly agree. 100g at level 40 was a lot at the start of WoW.

Hell, I remember grinding for weeks to gather my 1.000 gold for my epic mount!

But that is also kinda the point I try to make in my blog post. Inflation means that over time 100k creds at level 25 won't be a lot of money at all, because players will get more and more money and prices will rise. That's why it's such a good idea to get crafting material gathering professions since you're inflation proofing your income.

This is the easiest and most successful (with least amount of effort) tips out there. I did this and i have about 75k by level 25. Just manage your money and sel EVERYTHING that you don't use.

I've got about 7K at level 12, been selling all my crap at vendor. Now that I'm at a big city I have no reason to vendor trash my greens. But I won't have 3 gather mission because I want to build stuff for my ship whenever I get it.

@Fenris82: As for selling stuff, do you just sell in stacks or (gulp) individually?

Unless there's an easy way that I'm missing, I dread putting up my 98 Desh one-by-one.

And that is an amazing tip about Slicing. People on the official forums were saying Slicing was excellent, but I only recently realized, Lockboxes aren't super common (at least on Dromund Kaas they werent), sending your companion to get a lockbox for a measly random amount of cash is bad, AND there's tons of salvage/scrap around anyway, and I assume that Bioanalysis mats sell well?

Again, thanks for a great guide!

@Ulain: Well, I do sell stacks, but I would suggest you try to split stacks up if you're having very large ones. So maybe split your 98 desh into two or three stacks.

This way you're still selling in bulk, but you'll appeal to a wider market, since buyers can either pick up just one stack or all 3 at once.

Yep, there is a ton of salvage stuff around. Basically any droid you fight that is "strong" or "elite" is can be salvaged, as well as just finding nodes. And the same applies to any strong beasts that you're fighting.

You're welcome. Hope it will be useful to you! :)

Same here i have got some stuff on the AH but haven't sold a tonne but if you watch your spending and loot everything money is pretty easy, but since there is a mount in the security key vendor for 1.5m so i don't think you can do a direct 1:1 comparison to wow. And when i hit 25 i spent 55k to train for my mount and skills and at 27 i was back to 75k and just spent 20k for a extra bag slot.

There was a post on the WOW forums about a day after it went live.

60s for $100 on Ebay. The tone of the post was 'They're doing it already'. The price seemed in line for a bunch of level 5s who had amassed a total of 5 or 6 silver after 25 or 20 hours.

Protip. Gathering Crewskills are a sick moneysink. I had high Crewskill values at lvl 21 and no cash. Game told me to start save up cash. Stopped using crewskills for awhile. Had 70k at 25. I'm lvl 35 now and I'm about to stop crafting 'til 40 for speeder license 2 and speeder. Should work out just fine again. Since I'm already crafting gear for lvl 37, I won't be falling behind much either.

OP's advice is unnecessary. All you need to do is either choose slicing as a third mission skill, or forgo leveling your third mission/crew skill until after lvl 25. I had 80k credits as bioanalysis/biochem/slicing by lvl 25 without even touching the GTN. Most of that came from quest rewards.
