As tedious as "EA is going to totally ruin Star Wars" gets, maybe there's some fun in thinking of what games they might come up with at least.

My idea: Dash Rendar and Kyle Katarn dudebro shooter. Low-hanging fruit for Visceral, surely?

DISCLAIMER: I don't have any problem with EA making Star Wars games, in fact most publishers would likely screw it up and even Lucasarts didn't get it right half of the time.

As tedious as that sounds(the "EA Is gonna ruin Star Wars"-nonsense) you should try and see how tedious all the EA hate has gotten.
At this point it's not even real, it's just "everyone else is doing it for no reason so I must do it as well or else I'm weird"

I have faith in Bioware and their KOTOR stuff(Even TOR has an awesome story)
DICE could probably do something cool as well(besides the obvious Battlefront 3 stuff that everyone really wants)
Visceral has got co-op down, now they just need to get some good writers for the story and then make a FPS and voila, Republic Commando 2!

The Jedi order is gone. There is no longer a Light and Dark side only chaos. Colonies fall to a unknown foe raking its claws across the galaxy. The Sith no longer having to find force users now having the ability to artificially create force users their numbers swelled. This of course lead to power battle within the rake because no Sith is happy being "Just the apprentice" The galaxy lives in fear under the foot of the Sith. But with this new unknown threat the Sith find themselves no longer battling just among them selves but a foe that feeds on the force itself. Anger and hate no longer can sustain the will of the force. So the return of the Jedi is at hand.

I am secretly hoping that Bioware gets to make the first entry. Based on the original trilogy and focusing on BW's core strengths, Star Wars 4to6 would be a mediocre third-person shooter in which you, as Luke Skywalker, try to fuck your way through the Star Wars universe.

I imagine we'll get a lot of stuff that follows the trajectory of The Force Unleashed: yo dawg, you're this Jedi who has all the powers, then the game sells well and EA wants the developer to make another one like right away, then the sequel does much worse critically and commercially and EA shitcans the whole studio responsible instead of looking inward and saying "Hmmm, maybe it was irresponsible of us to rush them into making a sequel in under 2 years".

Ok here me out.

An ancient race of machine-alien hybrids arrive in the galaxy and begin harvesting all life. You are the galaxy's only hope of winning. You amass an elite squad of men and women composed of various talents and races and bring the fight to the machines. Also you have sex.

Sad thing is, a new TIE Fighter would be great. Problem is I have no idea who'd make it (Criterion doesn't want to make racing games anymore, so maybe..?) and flight/space combat sims have gradually hit this esoteric niche that makes the notion of games needing flight sticks an odd concept.

That said, the idea of crazy flight sticks being the new Rock Band drums amuses me.

New RTS would be nice. I enjoyed both Empire at War and Galactic Battlegrounds but an update is always welcome. Although the modding community was always so awesome there are probably plenty of game left for me to get out after.

The dream however would be a new Jedi Knight. I love those games so much, still look great even today.

And of course KOTOR 3.

Or maybe what KOTOR might have been. Bioware were offered by Lucasarts to set their game either a thousand years before the films or one set during Attack of the Clones. Such a bizarre choice, and an obvious no brainer, I've always been interested in what the hell they would have done with it had they gone the other way.

I'm sure Activision has thrown its hat in the ring as well, and they just could not compete with this obvious pitch. As far as I'm concerned, I want to play these games right now!

I'd love Bioware's game (if it's not KOTOR III) to be some sort of Mass Effect-y TPS/RPG thing where you're a Smuggler, or a spec ops-style trooper, in any era of the SW universe. Basically I don't want a Jedi or Sith as the main playable character, or for them to be the main focus of the game - I think SWTOR proved they could tell interesting Star Wars stories that aren't necessarily all about Jedi vs. Sith shenanigans (I really enjoyed the Smuggler, Trooper and Agent storylines moreso than what I played of the Knight and Consular). I wouldn't be surprised if it was a KOTOR follow up though, as that's their Star Wars baby.

Also, DICE should make a Mirror's Edge spritual successor set in the Corsucant lower levels or something, rather than a Battlefront successor. Because dammit, I'll take more Mirror's Edge stuff no matter how I can get it.

On a related note; I don't understand why people think that EA would dig up a bunch of decades-old Star Wars games and make sequels to them. Literally no-one in their target audience for this stuff gives the remotest shit about any of those properties (nor was there any indication that EA has access to those IPs). I suspect that some people are setting themselves up for needless disappointment.

it's republic commando first-person shooting that has you as an elite imperial stormtrooper, but then stuff happens and you get a lightsaber and it turns into jedi knight third-person lightsaber combat (with g_saberrealisticcombat 999 i.e. anything that touches the lightsaber falls apart), then some more stuff happens and you go in a tie intercepter and fight in space like in tie fighter.

EA Star Wars should have microtransactions, not work at launch, and be online only.
