And GSL is back! I myself can't wait for it to start. After an amazing Team League, GSL will only get better. The new maps proved to be of high caliber and we'll see more of them this season. Code A is finally becoming more interesting and exciting and this time around we have more non-koreans playing. Also some stars from the Team League will also play in Code A. In Code S we have the best of the best. Can MVP be stopped? It looks pretty tough, but he may even not pass the first group and may have to play the up/down matches later on. That's how crazy his group is. Unfortunately, we won't see Idra play, since he is back to the US.

Now, let's get ready to watch some amazing Starcraft II and discuss every detail of it.

I am looking forward to seeing how the foreigners will do in this season, especially Moonglade and HuK. I am sad to see Idra leave the GSL, though.

Excellent work! I love watching GSL matches, I just can't maintain the constant level of hype. It's like having the superbowl once a month. It's exhausting!

Gotta love Tasteless and Artosis though.

@Titl: Word on the street is that moonglade is a beast, right now. Tough bracket though. I still have high hopes for Ret. He always seems to be one short step from being a badass in Starcraft II, but he can't seem to make that final step. We'll see.

@Sweep: Exhausting indeed. The sheer amount of matches is too much for someone that has other things to do than watch Starcraft II every day and it seems it gets better and better each month.

I think we should get a stick here as the Official GSL discussion thread, like who won and who lost, what games we liked.  Full of spoilers and what not.

Just so you don't need to make a new thread for every GSL season.

@Winternet:  Yeah Moonglade is an a tough bracket, but i actually think that he could advance, i have high hopes for that guy. It's too bad for Ret, he is a really good player, but things just seem to go the wrong way for him. He seems like a really nice guy, so i definitely hope he'll be getting some of that Code S action.

Ret is a good player indeed, but he hasn't been showing his true potential since the last GSL. I feel Moonglade and HuK has a pretty decent chance at Code S. Not sure about Haypro.

I'm going to be rooting for the foreigners and Squirtle. xD

If squirtle makes Code S he should change his ID to Wartortle, and when he wins Code S, he will evolve to a Blastoise.

Yaaay didn't realize it was starting up again so soon. Can't wait for some code A-ness. Did they end up hiring new casters yet or did that thing not pan out?

That lady is insanely grating to listen to.  I watched a couple of her videos a couple days back.  She seems really bad.  She doesn't know much about the game and cuts off the other casters constantly.  Hopefully Tastosis will keep her in check.

Yeah I did the same and thought the same, but that's only for code A so it should be okay.

Also it is a shame Idra won't play but it'll be cool to see Jinro win. Right?

    @swamplord666:
Yep, gomtv.net is the website to check out.

If you are apprehensive about putting out the $10 for the whole league, they do offer single day passes, but honestly, GSL content is the most economical use of entertainment dollars that I can think of.  And you can even watch live for free if you can run your schedule like that (albeit it is a bit lower quality).

If you are totally new to SC2 watching in general, I'm not sure jumping straight into GSL is the best thing to do, but I certainly love it and don't want to discourage anyone from trying it.  You can indeed view the first set of each match for free on GOM's site to get an idea if this is the kind of stuff you want to see.   If you somehow are dying to just see more, I heartily recommend checking out the GSTL from earlier this month (GSL Team League Feb, I think the website calls it).  I think VOD access is $5 bucks (ignore the part about ads, as there have not been any ads show thus far) and it has some of the most epic games ever seen.

That is a viable idea. I would just have to do some arrangements to the initial post (include previous winners and all that) and some mod would have to change the thread title to "GSL official thread" or something like that and stick it. In the other hand, it may become too big. Too much info and you'll always have to skip pages of comments to go to the recent ones. I'm afraid some people may be lost in it. Or I could just put a little note in the beginning of each thread regarding the previous seasons or even a link to the other threads. You guys give your opinion and I'll respond accordingly.

@Ben_H: Is this the same chick that casted with Tasteless in Starcraft GOM tournaments in the past? I remember watching some VODs, but I don't remember her name.

@onimonkii: He'll probably face two zerg players in the first 2 rounds, ST_Curious and TSL_Pretty, so that's good. However, caution is needed when facing these new guys.

I do not believe it is.  There is a huge uproar on the Team Liquid forums about her getting selected.

I just hope he doesn't get cheesed in the first round and lose.

@Cataphract1014: I believe it would be just fine. However, GOM states that they will continue to look for casters for Code A, because they want to keep improving bla bla bla, which gives the idea that everybody else that applied was a piece of shit.

@Obsidian: He should be fine in the first round ( I don't know anything about supernova). Second round a possible encounter with TSL_Alive, who played well in his games in the Team League, and third round agains Ret / TSL_Killer look far more difficult. We should expect entertaining games, nonetheless.

@onimonkii:  I didn't actually listen to that, but I heard Idra called HuK a loser or something.  And it is depressing that my last post was 4hours, 22 minutes ago.  Sleep, how I miss ye.

not sure how long it takes to get up, but as of right now the most recent one from 5 hours ago ends right before it "starts". you do get some laughing shark though.

i actually have to catch the vods for the revival/butterfly effect match because i was laughing too hard to pay any attention.

i'm glad huk actually moved on, would suck to see him come this far and then lose in his first code a match. plus his interview was pretty good.

Actually thinking about it, he may not be allowed to upload GSL matches because us folk normally have to sub for VODS. It's weird that they let him restream at all though.

yeah he got warned by an admin on jtv after huk's matches and then they started watching an mvc3 stream and some random youtube videos. the funny thing is he wasn't even restreaming gomtv directly, he was restreaming some restream on tl o_O

The timing on that last video is all messed up actually. It does go into some of the GSL games with Idra and JP, and it still hasn't stopped even though I've passed the apparent end of the video :/

I feel I can no longer watch code A with the volume on.

But Clide played well, I missed the earlier group matches, so now it's a waiting game for the Vods =(

I do really feel bad for MVP because he is so clearly better than many of the other players in other groups.  I mean he won't have any trouble in the Up and Down Matches, but still.  Still though, he is a terran and I gotta give the props to my buddies in the swarm, so tough cookies MVP.  Next season.

Also, Zenio vs. Byun was a pretty amazing match, despite being casted by infested terrans.

Some pretty good stuff in the Code A matches from today too.  Kelly is improving, but still not up to it yet.  Or maybe I am just adjusting.  Her accent is still grating, but at least I could understand her nearly all of the time today.

ST_Virus vs FOXMoon was not surprising
GanZi vs Liquid`HayprO proves that no matter which way I bet on HayprO, I lose.  That guy seriously wrecks my perfect liquibets every season.
ZeNEXCoCa vs ST_Ace was surprising to me.  Some pretty good play in one of the matches and no snarfing it up on either side.  I wish to see more of Ace in the future.
SlayerS_YugiOh vs LeenockfOu should be obvious considering how Leenock got there.  That guy should just be crushing fools left and right in Code A, he certainly deserved to stay in Code S.
