Hello dear Giantbomb users,
Recently, I went out to a local store and purchased a fightstick in hopes that I could get better at SFIV before the next iteration came out. But after playing a few matches, unlocking some of the characters, I saw my copy of NCAA Football 10... I was quite bored at the time, so i though, why the hell not, and i popped in the disc in. As i sat there with fightstick in hand, I led the Virginia Cavaliers ahead of the Washington State Cougars by a considerable margin. So my question to you is this my friends and enemies; Have you ever played a game that was not meant for your fightstick with it?
Street Fighter IV
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jul 18, 2008
After nearly a decade in hiatus, Capcom's signature mainline fighting game series resurfaces with its fourth main installment, combining the traditional 2D gameplay with modern fully-3D graphics.
Has anyone used their fightstick for nonfighting games?
" Yeah I've played some other games with it. I got one kill against my friend in call of duty with it. "REALLY!!? lol. That's crazy!
If you're a camper in MW2 or something, you can set the mode to right stick, and just aim down the sights and shoot dudes.
" I play Twinkle Star Sprites with mine. "Nobody wants to hear about that gay shit.
" @AniMoney said:Yeah he got like 20 on me though as I kept switching between right stick to aim and left to move lol. But just getting that one pretty much meant I won." " i feel like i want to get good at guitar hero with it... "Might actually be better than a guitar.
I enjoy my SF4 joystick quite a lot on a lot of arcade or emulated games. I also like trying out some PC games with simple controls using Xpadder to really get the most out of it.
Yes.
Works with 2D games like Odin Sphere quite well actually.
Any compilation with arcade games, I mean how can you not use the joystick?!
I exclusively play Culdcept Saga with my arcade stick. Slow turn based strategy is made even more relaxing if you don't have to hold the controller, very satifying to issue commands with a big button too. I tried it out of laziness after playing Soul Calibur IV and forgetting to swap controllers after I sat down- turned out to be an awewsome idea and now I make sure my arcade is connected before I boot up Culdcept.
a little bit unrelated but one night at a house party we decided to try and play tekken 5 with a dance mat - i can guarantee a drunken laugh if you guys get the chance to try that shit out- its insane
" @V: when i worked as a tester at activision, we played street fighter iv every day during our breaks. as such, i would bring my stick to work everyday. one day i got curious and tried out guitar hero with the arcade stick. if i remember correctly, the certain gh i was working on recognized the controller as a non-guitar/non-drum controller and only allowed me to use it in conjunction with the microphone to do vocals. "Dude thats sweet, what game were you testing?

a simpler time...
Hook it up to your PC and you can play MAME with it. Shmups, fighters, etc. galore!
Also great for rhythm games such as Stepmania, DJ Max, Pop'n Music, etc.
" @sxezskoz said:i tested on GH:WT, GH:M, GH:SH, GH5, BH, and some of the DS versions. SF4 madness hit around the end of testing GH:M, started playing during GH:SH, but I didn't bring my stick to work until I was working on GH5." @V: when i worked as a tester at activision, we played street fighter iv every day during our breaks. as such, i would bring my stick to work everyday. one day i got curious and tried out guitar hero with the arcade stick. if i remember correctly, the certain gh i was working on recognized the controller as a non-guitar/non-drum controller and only allowed me to use it in conjunction with the microphone to do vocals.
