    Summer of Arcade

    Concept »

The Summer of Arcade is an annual Microsoft promotion that began in 2008. It highlights five XBLA games, and offers incentives to purchase them.

The Summer of Arcade is one of my favorite things in gaming

Every year, I strongly connect with several releases from Summer of Arcade. This year looks to be no different. Each season so far, I've consistently found some of the most creative, novel, and high quality experiences in the realm of modern gaming. Big fan.

And yes, I'm writing this because Bastion kicks ass.

Damn, was Super Meat Boy not in there, too? Perhaps not, but that reminds me that they release some damn incredible games in the off season as well. Super Meat Boy, Outland, Costume Quest...

Last years was best IMO. I bought all of them except for Castlevania, though it did look kinda cool.
This years looks good, too. I'll likely get Bastion, From Dust, and Toy Soldiers. I don't like that you have to buy every game to get that free one (Which doesn't look that good ,anyway). I don't have a Kinect.

I always want to buy most of the Summer of Arcade games, but I haven't bought a single one Braid and Castle Crashers in 2008.  I have some catching up to do.

I was only around for the 2008 summer, but I purchased and played extensively Braid, Geometry Wars, and Castle Crashers. I almost bought Bionic Commando, but didn't have the funds.

2008 and 2009 had really strong line ups imo. 2010 disappointed me. Except for Limbo there weren't any other game that enticed me. The other games seemed ok but not really worth a purchase. This year seems even weaker. Except for Bastion none other game even interest me.
