Get Your Masters in Flowcharting: A Ken Tutorial
To those who are interested in Ken but afraid of using the 'newb character'.
He's not a newb character. He's just a popular character. There's nothing wrong with picking him unless you're one of those bastards who...well...flowchart.
Wow, a person with a brains inside that round thing on top of their shoulders...what the hell is going on here? I think people call Ken players flowchart because it helps them cope with getting their ass handed to them. There are a lot of shitty Ken's out there, but the same can be said about all the popular SF icons such as Ryu, Sagat and Akuma. Why the hell dont they have flowcharts?" @NevereatNirnroot: Thanks :) Most Kens are content with simply spewing fire from their hands, it is not surprising!
@demontium: Thank you sir :)
Ultra setups vid will be up tonight. I will try to explain how to easily fadc also...I will probably fail.
I know you want to wait for your video to be out, but I've been messing around with ken and I'm having trouble connecting u2 off like.... anything. Only setup I can do effectively is FADC'd ex fireball. (I still haven't got the timing for stand jab -> u2). What else is there? I've been sticking with u1 simply because I'm more comfortable with it.
@Mmmslash: <3
@dbz1995: Bring it son.
@Jemenez: Please do the world a favor and switch. There is no place in heaven for Fuerte mains!
Alrighty, here is a series of vids describing the different ways to land both U1 and U2. There are roughly twice as many ways to land U1, U2 showed me that you don't appreciate something till you have something else to compare it to. U2 is garbage compared to U1.
Vid 1 is dedicated to U1, and shows the following setups
srk fadc ultra
anti air fierce srk fadc full ultra
cross up ex tatsu/non cross up air ex tatsu ultra
jab srk canceled into super into ultra mid screen
super into ultra corner
anti air jab dp into ultra
ex tatsu anti air into ultra
ex fireball level 2 focus into ultra
lp srk into ex srk fadc ultra in the corner
Vids 2 is dedicated to U2, and show the following setups
Fireball fadc ultra
light kick cross up tatsu into ultra
cross up ex tatsu/non cross up air ex tatsu into ultra
jab ultra
Comments/suggestions/questions are all appreciated! Sorry for the horrid editing, I am not Ultima sadly :(
" @demontium: If you go to your playlist, there is an edit playlist option at the top. Click it, and there will be an embed url, just post that link when you go to insert video.hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............
@Luke: Thank you :) Maybe one of these I will see you picking Ken! We can dream can't we :p "
just tested it.
maybe it won't work with chrome....
Not really related to his Ultras, but can you combo far st.LP into sweep? I know it's possible with close st.LP, but I never had success with the far version (unless it was against THawk).
Quick question: Have you had much success comboing into his sweep? I've attemped it after a st.lp, but I've never had any success...
sad face.
" Quick question: Have you had much success comboing into his sweep? I've attemped it after a st.lp, but I've never had any success... sad face. "Timing feels weird. Way different from Ryu's or Akuma's IMO, but that's probably because their sweep is much faster.
I'm not using it until I see far st.LP combo into sweep on normal sized characters.
A couple of mind games I've been using to decent effect:
If you find you are becoming predictable, or your jump in routines aren't working, a good tactic is to either empty jump (or empty cross up) and go straight into cr.lk, cr.lp, st.lp, fierce srk FADC ultra (Obviously, any combo starting with a low hit works, this just happens to be the one I use). Empty jump to grab is a bit shit, but works a surprising amount of the time.
A purposefully (or accidentally) fluffed step-kick is about as good a time as any to catch people off guard with kara throw (this is pretty range dependent). Fake overhead works well here too. Because he's so versatile, there are so many ways to land his BnBs and his good ol' kara-throw, so you should be hunting for them and trying your best to avoid falling into a pattern (something I'm trying to do a bit more these days).
Got a question though: after landing a combo ending with fireball/EX fireball, how strict is the timing to go into another combo, and is there any specific poke you have to start with?
So, for example, can you jumping.hp, cr.lk, st.lp, cr.mk, EX fireball, FADC, st.lp, cr.mk, tatsu?
I don't have much spare time atm, so can't check it out for myself.
@Napalm: Only you could be pro enough to do such shenanigans.
@Jeffsekai: OMFG COWBOY KEN IN 2 DAYS!!!!! My life is almost complete!!
I honestly thought that was a joke.

(I've never played a Street Fighter game before.)
@AlwaysAngry: Thought it was a joke why? I don't get it.
"10 finger high five, bro! Wait a second. FUCK YOU@Stang:
