A television set is a device used to view moving images usually accompanied by sound. They often appear in video games and scenery but sometimes have more practical applications.
2.37:1 should be the final aspect ratio to rule them all as 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 are what movies are commonly filmed in - negligible difference to fill a 2.37:1 screen. Overall, a wider jump than it was during the last transition from 1.33:1 to 1.78:1.

I'm all for it. Anything apart from 3D, who needs that useless tech anyway. Screw 3D, go straight to holographic technology if you want to go that way.
Movies maybe, but TV shows have just made the transition to 16:9 with spatterings of HD. As was mentioned, some types of video games just don't make sense at that aspect ratio, though ultimately I'm with you. The best multi-monitor setup continues to be the 3 monitor layout, which is closest to an aspect ratio that mimics peripheral vision and remains realistically affordable.
I'm all for it and the sooner the better. I'd like to not have to spend three months pay on one so hopefully they'll come out soon so I can afford one several years down the line, just as Kombat mentioned.
" I feel like I'm the only one in the world who is saying that we should all embrace the Hologram. "
Holograms would be awesome
I don't get why they didn't go straight to the average movie aspect ratio. I got my huge TV so that I WOULDN'T have those stupid black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.
I've seen cinemascope sized projection TVs, and they are wonderful. 16x9 images are inside the screen (as in shrunk), and the wide ratio is the full screen. Which HDTVs should have been in the first place, since any movie worth it's salt is filmed in that ratio.
