I had a really powerful character going into the fight against Satan with about 10 full hearts, and I had the Bible. I decided to use it to see if it had the same effect as it did against Mom, I didn't think there was a chance that it would work, but at least I would get the flying power-up.

Well, I used it, and much to my dismay, I was instantly killed, from full health to nothing. So, just a warning for you guys so you don't have to experience losing an hour or so of your time on a wasted playthrough.

It's even worse than the OP says -.- Using a bible in Satan's room kills you even if you kill Satan first!

All I wanted to do was taunt him a little I swear!

Is there a reason why the bible kills you in Satan's pit/room? I'm not sure I get the joke.

@KingWilly: could be because the bible instantly kills Mom and Mom's Heart, so you could assume that someone with the bible at Satan would/could have gotten a pass on two bosses. Or, who knows, could just be a bug.

Everything the Church has taught me has been a lie...

@KingWilly: In addition to ValiantGoat's theory, it could also be argued that you can't just call upon the power of God (using the Bible) to destroy Satan, since God wouldn't do that/God couldn't do that, depending on what version of Biblical mythology you look at this game through.

Or maybe it would just be lame if you could kill the definitely final boss of the game with the Bible, and McMillen decided to teach the player a lesson about trying to cheat your way through the definitely final boss.

Also, does anybody think it's at all likely that McMillen would do one last addition to the game where after you kill Satan, you can go up to Heaven, and either explore one more level, or maybe just go straight to a boss fight against God? It would sorta make sense, given that God is the one who originally ordered the hit on Isaac ;).

Your all just jealous because the bible gets all the cute girls.

I'll keep that in mind. Wow I never realized this could be taken as a metaphor for real life. Though I think he probably just made it that way to be funny.
