Not too sure why people are worried about having the game spoiled or ruined by watching this stream. The elder scrolls games are more about the atmosphere, exploration, and the sheer amount of shit to do, and not so much about having a compelling story or interesting characters. Besides, as the article states, a 12 hour marathon is probably just scratching the surface of this game.

Also, gb didn't come up with this idea, past or present. I think greg kasavin was the main brains behind it back at gamespot, so yeah... just credit greg and stop this whole us vs. them horseshit. I understand where the animosity comes from, but still...

You know, the idea behind doing what others are doing is to one-up the competition.

Man, 4 hour and 6 hour streams? At least Gamestop is going up to the double digits.

Its so perfect in so many ways that Greg is doing this on Giant Bomb. It completes the circle in so many ways at once.

-> GameSpot was awesome -> Greg Oblivion marathon at gamespot happened -> almost all of the great people left GS -> Giant Bomb happened -> Greg Skyrim marathon at Giant Bomb happens -> the shattered remains of what was once a decent gaming site is also streaming Skyrim.

And of course all of the "Let's play" hype inbetween and GameSpot (amongst others) trying to find their place in the new kind of Gaming site world that Giant Bomb has created.

For me personally this marathon signifies so much more than watching a good game for 12 hours. It's a stream that signifies that things are as they should be..

Greg Kasavin still holds that authority. At least for me I suppose!

I would rather watch Greg Kasavin play Doom 3 for 10 hours.

I think it'll be interesting to see how Greg, and whoever is doing the one on Gamespot go about the game. There is no way that they will have the same play style, so that will mix things up a little bit. But i'm going to be watching the Giantbomb stream. : )

I don't know if you guys have noticed at all, but other game sites have been copying Giantbomb for a while now. Even Jeff mentioned it on one of his jar talk dealies once.

It just goes to show that some people are innovators and some wait for innovators so they can copy what they do that is popular.

To be fair, Gamespot did this kind of thing before but that was a different time- different Gamespot you could say. Giantbomb's will harken back to those days, maybe play on nostalgia a little bit for some.

Anyway, i'll be at work so I can't really watch all of this but I'll be watching the one with Greg. The others pose less interest to me.

Gamespot! HA! I used to go to that site every single day, waiting for every story and review to come up. Waiting eagerly for the amazing Hotspot to become available. I don't think I've been there since Giant Bomb launched. Who cares if they're livestreaming. I'll be here with Greg.
