The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
So ya collectors edition is a think
In what games as of late has there been to many dragons? All I can think of was Witcher 2If it was a pretty important plot-related item in the game like that Amulet of Kings, or whatever it's called, from Oblivion, now that would be cool. I'm tired of dragons. They're becoming the olden age helicopters and shit.

I can name only one, and that's Dragon Age II. It should also be mentioned that I don't like playing games where sword and bow are pretty much the only weapons I can get my hands on.
Without fail, games set in a time where swords and shields are viable weaponry, there always be dragons. Even if there aren't that many dragons in recent games, I'm just tired of seeing dragons and wouldn't want to put that statue on my barren shelf.
That batarang from Arkham Asylum? That thing is somewhere in my room cause that thing is awesome and does a ton of shit in that game. If it were one of those beefed-up enemies, enemies that could be considered scarce and fearsome like a dragon if tackled improperly, Batman fights in that game, it'd be less awesome.
So what you saying is...@The_Laughing_Man said:

We need a game where batman fights a dragon?
I like the collectors edition but its way too much money for what you are getting compared to some other collectors editions.
I mean, that's cool. I'm glad they did something for the people who are crazy about Skyrim and want everything to do with it. I'm one of those people, but money doesn't come too easily and i'll stick with the normal edition. Everyone who is pointing out that it isn't much of a value proposition, we know. It's not about getting a good deal. It's about collecting stuff.
150$ huh? Map,artwork, the making of DVD and a statue? Okay, throw in a blowjob from Todd Howard and you have yourself a deal!
I don't know why i didn't write this in the first place!
Edit: Also, before i start getting replies, i just said this to illustrate the insane cost, Todd Howard seems like a stand up guy as far as I'm concerned.
Seems like everyone here is in agreement. Bethesda should take into account what's coming out around Skyrim's release. Arkham City, Battlefield 3, hell Call of Duty is the same WEEK as Skyrim. Gamer's dont tend to just stick to one genre. Hell, I'm personally getting Arkam City's CE, BF3 and Skyrim. I mean, with just the money you'd save going for the SE of Skyrim, you'd be able to pay off $90 of the CE of AC. Really shitty pricing for a game coming out within weeks of other AAA titles. I'm sure they're thinking some will pick the CE instead of buying an entire other game but not many.
Edit: Post number 900 :D
Goddammit. Here I was, hoping for an $80 edition that comes in a steelbook case and has an art book.
Not saying I wouldn't pay $150 for this, but I'll have to be a cheap ass and get the standard edition. Too much fucking games coming out.
Picking up the PS3 version, $150 is not a big deal for me, i will pre-order it when i pick up deus ex later this month.
Already have Pre-Orders on UC3 CE, SR3 CE, and soon Batman AC: CE/AC:R CE. I am a sucker for CE's, don't care if they are $69.99 or $300, i also have the huge crazy insane GOW3 CE with the statue and replica weapon pre-ordered.
i do want it, but that is quite expensive for something pretty that has no use and would be probably a lot worse in the uk
I've thought about it some, and I don't think I'm going to go for it. I have no interest in a dragon statue. I'll miss the art book, but I wouldn't pay $80 for just the book, so, you know.... Guess I'll live.
I'm a little disappointed, but I kinda saw this coming, seemed too obvious. If there was the (really nice looking) art book and a new edition of the Pocket Guide to the Empire, then I might have done it anyways.
Oh well, still super-stoked about the game. Maybe I'll get it on Steam before the 8th to get the TF2 hat instead.
If that is using in game digital files and that is Alduin, it seems to be that we now know what the end boss looks like.
Smart norseman. Feel the same way, map i don't need, if i really wanted a map i would just print out one of the many maps that will be created over this game. And the Dragon statue i would have absolutely no use for.I'm so glad I can withstand the urge to buy the collectors edition of games. The book and statue would just dust down and I would never look at it again unlike the game which will be played for some time.

Plus the map comes with a preorder of any edition so...seems kind of dumb to have it included as a "bonus" for the CE.
That is... roughly $50 more than I would be willing to pay for such schwag. Who knows? Maybe the Dragon Statuette is actually decent quality instead of that crappy Chris Redfield miniature that I got with the "This is hella expensive' version of RE 5. Hey guys, remember when collector's editions were only $10 more and came with like... a coin or something? That Pocket Guide to the Empire that came with the collector's edition of Oblivion was actually pretty interesting.
Complete rip off, the contents don't even begin to be worth the amount they're asking here.
I've bought a few expensive collectors edition in the past.. but I can't imagine how anyone could think this was worth the price. There's plenty of other amazing games coming out around the same time you could buy with that money.
Meh, I'm done with collectors editions. Trying to empty my room to move, and I'm finding them to be the biggest waste of space. I'm even going to toss a couple like the Assassin's Creed II because it's an oversized tin with a overly nerdy statue of Ezio in it. No thanks. Though the Fallout 3 lunchbox and Vault Boy bobblehead are awesome, don't look too nerdy out of context, just kinda retro in a fun way.
Plus Skyrim for me shall be PC, which buying ANY boxed edition is silly, I'll just grab the Steam version.
About $90 extra for the PVC statue. HA. AH-HA. Sorry, Bethesda, but there are far better valuables to get with that money. No worries though; I'll buy the game itself.

I think many people are overlooking the art book, which is a full coffee table sized book, about 8x12, and 200 pages long. That there is 20-30 dollars, depending on paper and print quality.
Not that I'm buying it, no place for a dragon statue in my life, but this "$90 figurine" meme is annoying in its inaccuracy.
I think I will just have the game and keep that extra $90. Thanks though.
Edit: Also FUCK YOU Bethesda.
