Yeah! I already have the PS3 version, this'll be sweet.

I am glad it's actually real since the Steam database announcements. I don't have a good PC but I can surely hang out with folks who can run this and play it with no problem.

I don't expect the online play to improve but since they really made this sorta distinguishable (hence "Steam Edition), it's possible that SNK might have improve. I don't really care too much since I play '98 and 2002 on GGPO anyways.

God fucking dammit, I literally bought this yesterday for the 360, wish I waited to get it on Steam. Anyhow, great game, now if the PC port of Injustice would hurry up and come along that would be just dandy.

@thephantomnaut: I know but I doubt SNK would make their netcode any better themselves... Japan and PC aren't exactly two (or three?) words that go together.

Well, shit. The PC seems to be raking in all the fighters lately. Pretty awesome period we're in right now. I doubt I'll pick it up since I still have my PS3 copy, but hey, more video games made available to more people on more platforms is always awesome in my book.

That is understandable. At least there is a safety net with GGPO client. It would be neat if modders were able to make a custom code like with how Melty Blood: Act Cadenza was.

Lol I wonder what "vastly improved netcode" means. I kind of want to see someone playing online in at least a beta environment or something, just so I can get a sense of it. Bad online was what scared me off this game many moons ago.

Haven't they basically said this about every game they released since the 98 UM?

At least the closed beta opportunity gives people a chance to check it out and even be vocal before release. Also since it's Steam release, they can release patches if they want... IF.

Personally I don't really play online anyways since I play local players (some who did really good at both this year and last year's EVO) so it's not much of a concern to me but I do hope for the best or at least capable for those who can't find or make a community just yet.

They have been ripped hella ago.

@thephantomnaut: Yep, although the AI is terrific in the actual game it doesn't appear to translate to Mugen very well sadly.

I find myself very tempted by this game, I just worry about netcode and player base. Launching more than two years after the initial release, I wonder what the PC online player base will be like.

If the netcode is solid I'll definitely grab it, probably will even if it isn't. Just because there's no GGPO doesn't mean it'll be bad, Street Fighter 4 on PC works amazingly well online, as did Tekken Tag 2 and Persona 4 Arena and none of them had GGPO. However SNK doesn't have the best track record when it comes to this, even with them claiming better online I'm a bit skeptical...

Nice to finally see some fighting games on PC, hope the trend continues.

If online is good then maybe a good amount of folks who played KOF98 or 2002 on GGPO. The XIII playerbase is mostly have been territorial due to local emphasis. I do hope online doesn't keep folks at home but encourages others to build communities locally and use online as an extension.
