There’s More Walking Dead Coming Before Season Two

Nope, those aren't tears in my eyes. It's allergies.

We already knew Telltale Games would be producing another season of The Walking Dead, but apparently the wait’s going to be a little bit easier. The studio will be releasing something before season two.

Story consultant Gary Whitta was on IGN’s Up at Noon, and revealed this big ol’ tease.

“There may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two,” he said. “We may have a little something extra for you between season one and two. There may be something in the works, even as we speak, that will make the wait for season two slightly less agonizing.”

As for when we might hear more about this, Whitta said “solid information” is coming “in the near future.” When asked for details, Telltale Games wasn’t willing to expand on Whitta’s comments.

When I spoke with project leads Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin earlier this year, the duo had moved onto Telltale’s next big series, based on the Fables comics. It seems likely we’re looking at a 2014 debut for The Walking Dead. The first episode of Telltale’s first season came out in April 2012.

“There’s not much to say because it is really very early in the process--we’re just starting to talk about it,” said Whitta. “It’s a way off.”

I wonder what that means exactly. I'm guessing they're upgrading the engine or doing something much grander in scale for a season two and what they're releasing before that is just an extra episode based off the old engine.. or something.

Either way, I'm on board. Completed season one for the first time just a week ago and I can't wait to see what they do next.

Dammit Whitta, I just got around to deleting the episodes and front end from my HD. You better not make me install em again!

#14 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11499 posts) -

Yeah, I'd put money down that they'll mess it up somehow or it otherwise fail to conform to the unrealistic expectations and crazy levels of hype that this first season generated. Either way, I doubt they'll be able to recapture the magic a second time for me personally.

Maybe it's a comic, or TV show based on the universe?

Is it going to get proper QA this time?

CLEMENTINE!!!

#24 Posted by AverageGreg (120 posts) -

I'm guessing a stand-alone chapter bridging the two seasons together. Either way, looking forward to it!

The Fables link seems to 404.

Would be really cool if they could release little one shot side-stories that all end with the character becoming a zombie.

That would be great if I could finish the game, but after Episode 4 my save file disappeared.

Still haven't touched the first season after buying it. Great news, nonetheless.

Man, in the right environment Greg Miller is a pretty cool guy but I still just can't stand Up At Noon.

Well, that's awfully nice of them!

I could easily see this wrapping up the Clementine storyline so they can start fresh for season two.

2014? Dang, had no idea it takes them that long for this series.

I'll pass, leave the story be and just create a new one with season 2, if anything in the future involves Clem I'm out

#34 Posted by deano546 (182 posts) -

Maybe they could patch the save file bug now?

#35 Posted by ParamedicFoetus (62 posts) -

@mattyftm: You may have tried this or it might not work but the same thing happened to me, I lost my save and thought I had to start from the beginning again, but there was a workaround.

Moving over the chapters I could still compare my choices to everyone else, like you usually can after finishing a chapter. Doing this for all the levels seemed to let the game know I had finished those chapters and the choices I made so when I continued it then started from the beginning of the chapter I was playing through when my save was lost rather than from the very start.

Sorry if it doesn't work for you but worth a try maybe

I love that this is written from the perspective that the site isn't personal friends with Gary or other people at Telltale. No sarcasm intended

New walking dead stuff? There might be. Could there be? Maybe! Perhaps there is! There's a possibility we could have something! Let's not discount the chance we'll see something new. There's a greater than zero probability of new content.

I'm ready for a presser..

"Walking Dead: The Lost Chapters"?

It will be a shmup spin-off game.

Man. What a game, blew me away. Hoping that the next game doesn't really involve Clementine too much. Her connection with Lee was a big part of what made season one really special.

Yeah, because your adventure game was just so good that waiting for the sequel is just painful. Such arrogance upsets me.

I'm waiting for it to be a huge troll and the thing "in the works" is the FPS and not another Telltale joint lol

more like

"Shoot that guy"
"Leave him alone"
"Try to reason with him"
"Tell him to fuck off"

If you played it on PC it was a pretty easy fix, 3 minutes on the first google response and 3 minutes of file navigation fixed it for me. Longest part was the hour and forty-five minutes of cursing prior.
