That One Busted Him Wide Open!

I'll start off by saying that I am a big fan of 3D fighters.  I love the Fight Night series and the Soul Calibur series as well.  The ability to side-step incoming attacks and parry is a must for me in a fighting series.  UFC 2010 allows both of these things, as well as all of the intricacies that come along with MMA as a professional sport.  The offline fighting is smooth and the hit detection is spot-on.  The fighters are well rendered, and the character creation is great.  Fighting with your friends offline is a blast, and the fighting system created in this series works extremely well.  The only offline shortcoming comes with the menu base career mode.  The menus used for training and resting between fights are overly cluttered and annoying.  The interface for this aspect of the game could use some improvement for sure.  The online fighting is a bit of a dissapointment as well.  There is considerable lag in over half of the fights, and the learning curve is pretty brutal.  There is also an issue with connecting to other players, which can often take several minutes.  This game is great for people who are into MMA, and for those that are looking for a great game to play with their friends offline.  It is also a solid one player experience, with plenty of gameplay modes that are both challenging and rewarding.  However, the laggy online experience and its connection issues keep it from being a complete package.

It accurately recreated the hard-hitting sport, with a solid stand-up game, plenty of depth and strategy to the ground and pound and its vicious submissions; an impressive bevy of fighters, and competent single player and multiplayer options. Its only problematic flaws came from some unwieldy controls and a severe lack of beneficial tutorials. Mixed Martial Arts is a p...

Ain't Gonna Be No Rematch 0

I think we can all agree that the modern mixed martial artist is in a class of athlete unto itself.   Able to deftly weave between the power and grace of a boxer, with the agility of a gymnast and the mental acumen of a tournament chess player, a mixed martial artist must not only be physically imposing, but must also know exactly how to respond to any of the thousands of life-threatening (the UFC has never seen a fatality, but is always theoretically possible when 205lb men punch one another ...
