That One Busted Him Wide Open!
I'll start off by saying that I am a big fan of 3D fighters. I love the Fight Night series and the Soul Calibur series as well. The ability to side-step incoming attacks and parry is a must for me in a fighting series. UFC 2010 allows both of these things, as well as all of the intricacies that come along with MMA as a professional sport. The offline fighting is smooth and the hit detection is spot-on. The fighters are well rendered, and the character creation is great. Fighting with your friends offline is a blast, and the fighting system created in this series works extremely well. The only offline shortcoming comes with the menu base career mode. The menus used for training and resting between fights are overly cluttered and annoying. The interface for this aspect of the game could use some improvement for sure. The online fighting is a bit of a dissapointment as well. There is considerable lag in over half of the fights, and the learning curve is pretty brutal. There is also an issue with connecting to other players, which can often take several minutes. This game is great for people who are into MMA, and for those that are looking for a great game to play with their friends offline. It is also a solid one player experience, with plenty of gameplay modes that are both challenging and rewarding. However, the laggy online experience and its connection issues keep it from being a complete package.
