The New "Must Have" Action Game

You can't help but be impressed with this game.  From the luscious jungle backdrop to the incredibly entertaining storyline, this game has cemented itself as a definite must buy for any PS3 owner.

The player takes on the role of Nathan Drake, a smart-ass "everyday man" treasure hunter on the hunt for Sir Frances Drake's long lost fortune.  Believing him to be his ancestor, the game starts off with Drake finding his long lost diary (hidden in a coffin somewhere at sea) and the acion picks up from there.  Mercenaries, henchmen, crime lords and even cursed Spaniards, Drake reluctantly faces them all on his way to gaining the score of a lifetime.

The gameplay is easy and fluid, borrowing alot from games like Gears of War.  The third person action allows you to pick off enemies at a run or wait behind cover for the perfect headshot (but don't wait too long cause most cover is destructible).  The gun-play is fun even though the baddies do seem to fall in the "first rush", "second rush" and "super duper hard final rush" kinda pattern.  The cover is responsive and feels almost as good as Gears of War, making for some intense fire fights.  You get access to the usual weapons (handgun, shotgun, automatic, etc...) and they seem to switch it up at the right time so you don't get too bored with each of them.  Adding trophies in an update was the cherry on top giving you reasons to go back to this gem even after you finish the main story.

And speaking of the story... Damn it made for some fine gaming.  This game is funny .  Not the cheeriest of chaps, Drake seems to dig himself out of one hole only to fall into one twice as deep.  The supporting characters are just as fun, with Helena (cute girl next door camera man...um... camera girl) proving that a strong female character doesn't have to have Double D's and be half naked to be enjoyed by all and Sully, a fifty-something treaure hunter whose debts may come back to haunt him at the worst possible time.

This game has story, fun gameplay and quite a bit of replayiability... it's a definite buy in my book.  I rented this game, beat it and then went out and bought it... it was worth every penny.

      Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Review 0

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune tells the story of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter, as well as a descendant of the famous historical figure Sir Francis Drake. Drake and his friend, Sully, are chasing the ancient lost city of El Dorado. Together, accompanied by journalist Elena, they follow clues in the journal that belonged to Francis Drake himself. You can expect some plot twists here and there, and for the most part, the story is great. It starts off slowly, introducing you to the character...

I wanted to like it more 0

Uncharted looks great, there is no denying that.  The story is also decent, and the gun play is functional, so why don't i like it more?   Uncharted, for those who don't know, is Gears of War meets Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones.  The influence from Indiana Jones is in the story, and that bit is really well told.  Nathan Drake is a great action hero and Nolan North really brings him to life.  I also ended up actually liking the obligatory love interest and the villains are suitably evil.  There...
