Drake's Fortune is one of the best games on the PS3 to date.
In Uncharted: Drake's Fortune you play as young treasure hunter, Nathan Drake. You'll find yourself running through the amazon searching after "El Derado" which turns out to be a statue of gold. Your ancestor "Francis Drake" apparently had no sons but you are convinced you are his heir.
When I popped in Uncharted I was fully expecting a good game, due to the amount of talk about it, but when the game is this good it's clear that it is not talked about enough. The visuals in Uncharted are amazing. The bright, flush environments look so alive and are made even better from the way Nathan interacts when them. If you walk over a plant, it moves. If you jump in water, your shirt is going to be wet. It's obvious that the visuals are the real stars in the game as Drake just has a gray t-shirt on and some jeans.
The gameplay is a mixture of platforming (Assassin's Creed style) and gunplay. Both are excellent, particularly the platforming. There is the now classic third person cover system (Gears of War style). The firefights are extremely intense at times but they do get a bit difficult at times and you'll find yourself having to retry a fight couple of times. You will find all your classic guns in Uncharted. There is a pistol, a better pistol, a better pistol than the better pistol, a shotgun, a better shotgun, a better shotgun than the better shotgun. You get my point. There is also some hand-to-hand fighting combat but it isn't done very well. Supposedly there are these "different" fighting maneuvers, but I managed to get by on just pressing square over and over. You will also encounter a bunch of intense, adrenaline inducing chase scenes in Uncharted, I don't want to give anything away but your in for a treat. The game will last you approx. 10 hours but you will probably find yourself playing it through at least twice.
The music in Uncharted is very different. It's very tribal music and they use some odd instruments. It fits in nicely with the gameplay and is usually the signal for you to know when a firefight is over. All the sounds are very good. You'll hear water splashing when you walk through it, guns echoing through tunnels, all the weapons, of course, sound differently, everything you would expect from a game like this.
All in all Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a great experience that is perfect for anyone. If you are a fan of video games you need to go check out Uncharted. It's literally worth buying a PS3 for.
