Underwater is a location seen in many games, if you can even really call it a location. Games utilize underwater worlds in many ways. Some characters go underwater in some sort of boat or robot, while others swim there. Some characters can't breathe underwater and need to get air bubbles. Sonic is an example of such a character. However there are some 
characters who somehow are immune to what a lack of oxygen can do to your body. Mario is one such example in his earlier games. How can a little Italian plumber last so long underwater without actually drowning? The world may never know the answer, because underwater is a mysterious place.
These games either take place in buildings or vehicles in underwater, have underwater swimming levels, or have significant plot points that deal with being underwater. Beware the perils of the deep.
