FYI everyone, the keto diet is horrible for you. It's just a crash diet.
Don't stay on it longer than a few months.

Also, just tried garbanzo on my salad. It's alright, cashews are better, they have more crunch.

Jesus Christ Rorie. I was enjoying the chatter between the group playing the game until Rorie came in and just waffled on over them. I understand there is the Ask a Question feature from the chat but for crying out loud, just queue up a couple of questions and ask at the end of a level or something. Or just reply within the chat.

Yeah, that's "classic" Rorie. I really don't understand why he's getting more and more screen time. Bless Ben for being as patient as he was with him - I would be a lot more confrontational. +1 for less Rorie on streams, please.

I like Rorie a lot when there's not much happening on stream, and everyone is just hanging out. Often there's not a lot to talk about for a game they're playing, and it can be good to have someone just ramble on about nothing for a while.

... But for God's sake, man. Learn to read the room. Maybe don't share your world of warcraft stories or ask irrelevant questions when people are trying to talk to one another over voice chat while struggling with a difficult game.

You have no idea what a proper application of a keto diet actually is, do you?

Carbohydrate restriction to achieve a ketogenic state is obviously what it's based upon (no news there), but there is no upper or lower limit on calorie intake. It's all goal dependent. Dietary fat intake is supposed to be kept high so the body can draw its energy from fatty acids and also alter it into glucose for necessary brain & liver functions etc.

When it's executed correctly, most people can thrive in even a lengthily sustained ketogenic diet. Many just fuck it up by not eating enough fats or limiting calories too severely from the get go. Only group of people it doesn't really suit at all is hardcore athletes who perform a lot of glycolytic work in their training.

Calling it a crash diet is just uneducated misinformation. It's certainly heck of a lot healthier than pounding down copious amounts of carbs from shitty sources like a lot of modern western people do.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. He literally did not stop talking from the time he came onto the screen. I love Rorie, but dude, sometimes we don't need constant questions and "tips" from the chat. Especially considering the importance of communication in Vermintide. I definitely understand Ben's annoyance.

I use Mayo over butter on grilled cheese with some fragrant grated hard cheese like the Romano or parmesan, maybe fontina on the outside... The bread crisps up so much better when using Mayo. Also you can cook The sandwich longer, and hotter with Mayo the burning point is higher.

I actually know plenty. Don't try to be condescending.

The keto diet has been shown to be horrible in almost all cases, for sustained nutrition. Of course a keto diet is better than a sugar-laden diet, how does that make the keto diet good? It doesn't.

Your body needs carbs and uses them much more efficiently than fat. Loading up on fat is stupid and in the long term will destroy your arteries and kill you.

You don't need the keto diet to calorie-restrict, that's an oversimplification and is a horrible excuse. You can lower your calories on any diet. I'm talking about actual health, not just dropping body weight for the sake of a number.

People are so short-sited, and it will end up killing them. People that promote keto are either ignorant or disingenuous.

It's easy to come off as condescending when your first reply was just calling it a crash diet with zero reasons why. But now we're getting somewhere!

Your first statement is false, there's keto-related research out there with several different conclusions, some positive, some negative. As is the case with most "gimmick based" diets.

A human body absolutely does not need carbs, that is false. Body needs glucose and is perfectly capable of producing it from dietary fats and proteins. But I do agree with the efficiency part. That's pretty much indisputable.

I never said keto is necessary for calorie-restriction. Of course it isn't. I said the diet is based upon carbohydrate-restriction.

I don't have any particular marriage to the ketogenic diet nor do I personally prefer them (would be a bad idea for a competing strength athlete with a high glycolytic workload at the gym). I am not promoting one either. I am however defending it against your claim that it's a crash diet. It can be sustained healthily for long periods of time, methods such as Targeted Keto Diet and Cyclical Keto Diet are great examples of it.

Okay, that video was produced by some site with a plant based diet agenda, so immediately can be taken with a million grains of salt. Are you gonna ask me to open up Netflix and watch What The Health next? It's widely known by informed people to be a total propaganda piece at this point. Both have that same doctor too.

Also that article (which I took the time to read, mind you) drew its info from studies that have several disputing studies with completely contradictory findings. Besides the amounts of fat that most people need to eat on keto isn't high enough to cause the problems he is talking about anyway.

I would suggest you read up as well. And not from web articles or sketchy youtube videos, but actual literature. Lyle McDonald's The Ketogenic Diet would be a good place to start. That guy has been widely recognized as pretty much the top dog in nutrition for close to two decades now. It's admittedly a boring ass read, since it refers to a ridiculous amount of studies and goes to great lengths to explain how ketosis and the diet itself works, but it's worth it for the information alone.

@xeirus I must mention too, that the whole high fat fear is pretty ridiculous when put in context. Having tried keto in the past, I do well with a daily intake of 125-150 g of daily fats. And I'm a 245 lbs male with 220 lbs LBM. Many need even less. That's genuinely in many cases much or at least somewhat less fat than people who eat out a lot and don't pay attention to their nutrition eat daily. Plus they pound down a bunch of carbs too. And the fat comes most likely from way worse sources.

There's a huge difference whether majority of the fat comes from healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (as everyone with half a brain should make an effort to do on keto) or if you just get it from butter or something like that.

@xeirus: I did dispute what the article said and I didn't even particularly slam the article or the author. Just plain disputed it. I even wrote a separate post about the silliness of the high fat fear in keto diets. In my earlier post, the one you replied to. I made several points with zero counter arguments from you. Most likely because you don't have any. Requires a level of knowledge that is quite difficult to obtain from youtube videos. Instead you just resorted to ad hominems. Fine, good talk.

This is stupid, because I don't even particularly like keto diets. But keto diet is not a crash diet. A badly applied one might be, but well applied one not at all.

edit: I should also say I do indeed have a clue considering I make my living pretty successfully in the fitness & nutrition industry, Feel free to drop me a PM for further details and references.
