Another Transformers movie? What?

Posted by Veektarius

For a game that's not part of the Cybertron series, they really seem to be working off its aesthetic.

Posted by WinterSnowblind

I'm really disappointed that they've ruined the Cybertron continuity by just rolling it in with the movie stuff. Terrible idea.

No High Moon no sale.

@veektarius: It is part of the Cybertron series, sadly it is mixing both Cybertron and the movie world together, which is where the 2 worlds part comes into it.

Well, shit.

The only reason ever to watch these trailers is for Optimus Prime as he will always be in these until Peter Cullen dies and is the best voice ever, and I'm not even a transformers fan.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like the worst movie in the series? I was never so bored during a Transformers trailer :( Even Dark of the Moon got me excited and that was pretty bad.

Loadout guys doing a Transformer game???

So does Bumblebee have a Helga Sumo Twerk?

Posted by mattoncybertron

why would they do that?????

Posted by Mustainium

Edge of Reality also developed that god awful Incredible Hulk game from 2008.

So...yeah.

That name cannot be real.

They should've gone full-on Dr. Seuss and called it Mark of the Dark Spark.

Well, shit.

I thought the two worlds was referring to earth and cybertron. Either way, this has the potential to be really shitty.

I'd say take heart, decent, even good movies have had terrible trailers (Office Space was sold as a Jennifer Aniston rom-com), but...I checked out a while ago. I'm not sure if it was Bumblebee peeing on a guy, Devastator's balls, or the twins, but I'd just spend the money and time on another movie.

Kudos to those who made the trailer - they did good considering what they had to work with.

The game looks like it f-ing sucks, more than the previous ones.

As someone who loved both the Michael Bay movies and the Cybertron games, I am completely okay with this, and am in fact rather stoked to play this game. Feels nice to say something positive on the Internet. n_n

For every Transformers movie... Transformers game.

I have no idea what is happening in this trailer. Nor does the press release make any sense either:

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) today announced TRANSFORMERS™: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK™, a video game complement to Paramount Pictures' upcoming film, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, set to release this June. This third-person action adventure video game goes beyond the movie by uniting the universe of director Michael Bay's TRANSFORMERS movies with the ever-popular Cybertron universe. Players will choose from over 40 playable characters from the two different universes as they battle to secure the Dark Spark. TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK will be releasing on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Sony's PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo's Wii U™ system and the Nintendo 3DS™ handheld system and Windows PC.

"TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK is an arc between the Cybertron and Earth based worlds of this popular franchise," remarked Mark Blecher, SVP Digital Gaming & Corporate Development at Hasbro, Inc. "This year marks 30 incredible years of TRANSFORMERS. This game tells another chapter in the TRANSFORMERS story that all fans will love."

Serving as a follow-up to both the upcoming TRANSFORMERS live-action film and Activision's TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON and TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON titles, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK jumps worlds and factions as it weaves the tale of the hunt for an ancient relic as powerful as the Matrix of Leadership - the Dark Spark. Players will be able to switch between the heroes of the noble AUTOBOTS and the nefarious DECEPTICONS throughout the single-player campaign. Similar to High Moon Studios' CYBERTRON entries in the highly regarded series, gameplay features nimble, fast-paced running-and-gunning combat paired with traversal and vehicle action across open battlefields for large-scale, dynamic conflicts.

Players will also see the return of the fan-favorite multiplayer mode, Escalation, which delivers wave-based, survival-style gameplay for up to four players online cooperatively. It features new, upgradeable defense systems, recognizable adversaries from the lore, and an expanded roster of playable characters from past and present. Additionally, an exciting new leveling system transforms single-player and multiplayer into one unified, persistent character development path. Experience earned in any part of the game unlocks potent awards and tactical loadout choices - including new characters, stronger weapons, special abilities and consumable bonuses - for use throughout the entire game.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK is currently rated "RP" (Rating Pending) by the ESRB. Be sure to check out the latest information on the game at www.transformersgame.com.

I enjoyed the High Moon games but this just feels like a completely mess waiting to happen. *sigh* Might as well rent it. My TF addiction compels me....

The last one I played was Transformers: War For Cybertron and I'll never forget how awesome it was due in part to it being a great game, the fact I never finished it & because it killed my Geforce 8800 Ultra. Even after replacing the GPU, I've never gone back sadly.

Posted by Nightfang

Why are they even trying a multiverse crossover when a time travel one would be much better.

Posted by Lazyaza

Even as a member of the tf fan community I still think this looks like utter shit.WfC and FoC were so damn good and now we're back to the license being shat on again because another michael bay middle finger is on the way.

This trailer wont play for some reason. Stupid new video player. Granted i don't care much, just saying.

For a game that's not part of the Cybertron series, they really seem to be working off its aesthetic.

According to a press thing going around it blends the games X of Cybertron with the Bay Movies somehow. I guess it goes all alt universe.or something.

"An Activision representative announced and shared some details about the game at a Hasbro preview event for the New York Toy Fair. Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will merge the universe created by High Moon Studios in the previous Cybertron games with the universe director Michael Bay created in the Transformers movies, according to examiner.com."

Posted by Duecenage

That way that Optimus delivers that first line, almost makes it sound like 3 factions. I can't unhear that pause.

"For every force in the universe. there is an equal... and an opposite"

Activision, the masters of running franchises into the ground! Fans of the highmoon games loved that they stuck closer to the original franchise and ignored the mostly aweful movies, trying to link the old stuff with the movies is only going to hurt sales. No wonder Highmoon dont want anything to do with it, id be keeping my distance too...

Why doesn't someone just make a Transformers skin for X-Com?

Yeah. Unless it's a Fall of Cybertron sequel by High Moon, I'm seriously not interested.

I get that movie games sell to the naive, but they're almost always trash, and there's no reason to expect that to change ever.

I liked the first Cybertron game by High Noon. The second one didn't really click for me. Hopefully this one doesn't ruin it completely.

Wait that came out theologically confusing.

I'm still waiting for the reveal that the shadowy Director of XCOM is actually just Optimus Prime.
