Ask Me Anything: Gears of War 3

Walk down a corridor and listen to people talk, watch a cutscene and listen to people talk, walk down another corridor and listen to people talk, finally some gameplay.
 
Anyway, game looks alright.

The cinematic presentation in the cutscenes strikes me very different than the first two games.  
 
Not that the writing is especially genius, but I would call it a notable improvement. Well done Epic. 

Oh boy. Gears of War and Uncharted both have Claudia Black huh? She plays Sam Byrne as you'll see here.

Looking great. Really can't wait for Sep. 20.

Looks really good and maybe the storytelling well make a significant impact this time around.

I like the series and I can see how some people "Don't like the characters" but the real star of the games is the combat. Going in with that in mind, I can't wait to see how this wraps up.

Gears is one of those series where I get crazy excited for about a month or two before release, love playing it for a few months, then kind of put it on the back burner for a while. This looks awesome though so I'm sure my excite meter is going to be rising soon.

Jesus Jeff, take cover! You're making me nervous.

Can't wait. Love the characters, love the story (as simple as it may be) and I LOVE the gameplay. 
 
Hopefully my buds are picking it up too for some of that sweet, sweet Horde action.

one thing i wish they would change is the "hold x to pick up ammo". games really need to be unified on that, and make it so just walking over ammo gives it to you. I think uncharted 3 fixed that so you can just roll over ammo and you get it, but i could be wrong on that. its just annoying and it gets tedious when youre in an area with a lot of ammo you need to get

Yeah because every game should be judged on its color pallet, especially when you're specificly told that this level doesn't show off the broadened color pallet.

I come to Gears for the gameplay, and it looks like this is more Gears. *thumbs up*

Looks a little bland without the benefit of the contrast of the first game. I wonder if they shouldn't have listened to all the people wanting a wider colour palette and stuck to their guns because now everything looks a bit washed out.

I know for sure that I'm gonna be playing Easy on this now because there's nothing more fun than bullet-sponge enemies.

@NTM: Hooray! I was pretty happy when she showed up in the Uncharted 3 E3 trailer.

Looks just like the other two games.

Having played the first two through multiple times, including Insane, I think I've had enough of this shoot-fest.  Looks solid and all...

I'm not as big a fan of Gears as I am of Augustus Cole. Dude's a legend twice-over! 
Never played its sequel, but the first Gears is still a great game and The Cole Train was my favourite thing about it after all the HD exploding dudes. 
I might be back in.

Looks boring. At least when it comes to this chunk of gameplay, it doesn't look like Gears 3 has progressed a lot.

This.  Every game has flaws, it's just a matter of if you  can overlook those flaws and enjoy what makes the game good.  Also guess fucking what they DON"T have to be the same for everyone, that's what opinions are for.

This looks like more Gears, which is a very good thing in my opinion.

And that's why I made my initial point; it's stupid to lump the people that aren't in love with Gears of War as wannabe indie kids, just like it's stupid to label anyone who doesn't like Braid as a meatheaded jock.

I really liked the first game, really disliked the second, but I'm genuinely excited for this one

Can't wait to play this. Karen Traviss is a decent writer, so I expect the game to be great.

There's a lot of gears innovation that isn't necessarily captured here: Horde 2.0 is a massive overhaul, dedicated servers, new gametypes, and four player co-op. While it looks and feels the same, the scaffolding to support the core gameplay has been built higher.

the world and design look great but I feel the same as I did about the other 2, its wasted being a lame ass set-piece 3rd person shooter with crappy sticky cover, be much better as an fps or even an rpg style shooter. The art style is good and it looks very nice, but the gameplay just looks boring to me.

I am really looking forward to this game now....... especially with all the new multiplayer stuff. If any GB people want to group up and play I think that would be great. I'll even grow out my beard Dom-style.

Can't wait to system link co-op this with a friend on Hardcore. It's going to be a blast!

ASK YOU ANYTHING?? Okay well, how much have they changed from the Beta? Because the chainsawing sucked balls, as did the maps, as did the game types, as did the weapons. : ]

Gears 3... this is the 3rd game in the series, kinda late to do super drastic changes to the gameplay.

But I'm hyped for more Gears.

Meh, that's Gears all right. Will be a decent game for a few bucks. Probably won't play it long. Getting this from goozex when some other gamer decides they want to trade it out.
