Building the Bastion: Part 02

Still probably my most anticipated game, and looking into game development like this is highly interesting. 
Also, Greg Kasavin is the greatest man on earth.

Where is part 1 of this video? I tried searching for it but it doesnt come up?

It looks like the game plays well and the art certainly brings it to life. I like how colorful and diverse the environments are. I'm looking forward to playing it and being able to hear what that intensely booming voice is saying.

The difficulty tweaking sounds great. I can't think of m/any action/adventure or RPG games that wouldn't benefit from a system like that.

I'm currently in the midst of a long-term game design process, which at this point is really more of a mental exercise than any full production, and I really enjoy seeing this process here. Not to mention that the game itself seems pretty cool. Though, it feels weird that what I'm currently working on has something to do with world-building, kind of like with one of the aspects of Bastion here, though on a far larger scale.

I saw a sealed copy of Goldeneye in there. 
  
EDIT: If bastion is on steam, and I can pre-load it I will purchase.

I like the sound of the Shrine system. It sounds more like TWEWY system where changing the difficulty and decreasing your level got you better drops and increased their chances of dropping.

I really hope this game isn't shit! It keeps looking better and better!

Loved the 100 Kirbies poster from VG Cats. The guy that does that webcomic is awesome. I got to meet him at Anime North this year, cool dude.

Just the fact that he has THE LONGEST JOURNEY in his 'essential' collection makes me happy. That game is extraordinary.

I appreciate all the hard work gone into this and the monthly updates is great. I just can't see me getting this though

I definitely plan to purchase this day one. Huge fan of arcade games and this looks like one of the best ones out there. Great stuff.

Love seeing this kind of inside look at game development. The team seems to have no shortage of talent: from the art to the engine, game mechanics, and procedural narration everything in this game looks fantastic. Very excited to play this when it comes out!

" I'm not too keen on the visuals in Bastion. They seem very messy and all over the place in terms of color and pattern. There seems to be alot going on both in the background and foreground which is hard to concenentrate on. The contrasting patterns/colors don't compliment eachother. Eg bluey/greeny forest with red lava type background. However, that was, what, ONE level? So i don't know about the rest of the game. But that demo just seemed ugly visually. I can tell its all really well drawn and looks great stand alone, but its like they combined all their backgrounds/foregrounds on a random generator or something. Its a shame because i think the rest of the game is really interesting such as the narration (perhaps a little annoying after a while?) and the developers seem like lovely people. Still, all the best "

too much going on in the visuals. Hard to pinpoint things... they need to tone it back

Usually I don't check up much on the Indie games (usually not a lot of coverage in the places I look), yet this looks very interesting. I quite like the style and it looks very addictive.
I hope Giantbomb rebumps the game when it's released!

Another great video, this series of Building the Bastion videos might be the best thing on GB.
 
Greg has a great collection.  It's nice to see Clive Barker's Undying get some love.  Few games have had better atmosphere.

Totally watching this video now.

Undying is one of the most underrated FPS ever.  Such a good game and I think it still holds up well.

That's a really nice editor tool.

Seeing Greg's stack of games at about 4 minutes just warms my heart. Such good taste and love for old school PC gaming!
