Celebrate Today's Kingdom Hearts 3D Launch With One More Weird Trailer

was never into this series

I liked the first two games but they lost me after those.

Can't wait to pick it up :) Been following the story since the first one and have all the spinoffs so I'm protected against the haters :P

After finishing with catching up on all the games last week it's pretty amazing how the whole story makes sense now. My hype for 3D has been increased by tenfold!

@LethalKi11ler: I kinda hate that this is a Spin-off when it covers what's essentially the heroes training before going to battle against the big bad , KH3 will probably start with a grown up Sora and Riku ready to face Xeharnot but if you didn't play BBS or this one you'll be wondering ... what!? when , who?

@Tfruit: At the very least you'll have needed to play KH1, KH2 and Birth By Sleep. Those have most of the major details. The other games have other details here and there, but not so much that you'd be lost without them.

Read the Birth By Sleep plot summary and I could not understand a damn bit of it. Criminy this series has gone off the deep end.

They lost me half-way through the 1st game.

But that's really more my fault. i just got stuck.

I'd rather celebrate this than my birthday today.

I am a Kingdom Hearts supporter, but I still find the fact that they said "new features" kind of funny. Way to state the obvious there.

I couldn't help but thinking about Kim Jong-il when I read "GLORIOUS 3D".

I enjoyed the first game. Never played anything after that.

I never understood why people were into this franchise.

I enjoyed the demo so I may pick this up...seems like it could be the best Kingdom Hearts since the second one.

Man I'm so behind, think I'll try and marathon through Birth by Sleep on psp before grabbing this. I think it'll all be worth it just to explore that tron world again.

I think it is more that Nomura's team can't seem to get Versus XIII out the door.

I just... what??? I thought this was a prequel. If so which game is it a prequel too? Is it actually a sequel? I have no idea where this could possibly fit in the timeline unless it takes place after Kingdom Hearts II. Little help anybody?

Wasn't that canceled recenty? Sucks because out of all of Squares internal teams they seem to be the only ones capable of doing anything innovative and different.

It's a sequel. Riku and Sora are taking the mark of master test to fight the eventual "big bad" in KHIII. It is not a prequal to anything.

I think people get confused with things like Birth by Sleep where the game is a prequal to everything, as in being the first game in the timeline, but the secret ending shows a conversation where Aqua is talking to a person about events that happened after KHII. It also shows the ending of KHII (Sora getting the letter in the bottle) and continues that scene.

Then you have KH 358/2 days that spans the timeline of KH1, Chain of Memories, and KHII.

None of it is confusing because I've played ever game except for KH Re:coded, and I know when one game is referencing events in one of the other games. Its like sporadically watching episodes of Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad and not knowing what's going on. You can't expect to know what's going on by missing episodes.

Sure, taken by itself Birth By Sleep gives the 3 main characters a pretty raw deal and Xehanort does get what he wants, but Aqua's actions in the end leave the scenario at almost a draw since Xehanort isn't able to act. I guess you could say the 3 sacrificed themselves to prevent Xehanort from proceeding for the time being. I will agree that "evil" has the most points at the end of that game, but it points to a solution further down the road.

The original KH plays it similar with the restoration of the worlds at the price of Riku's and Mickey's imprisonment in the World of Darkness. Hell, Chain of Memories does it too with Namine's actions causing Sora, Donald, and Goofy to be put into stasis while other characters keep things in order.

I still say that 358/2 days has the most tragic situation with Xion. It doesn't have "evil" come up on top at the end, but she gets kicked around by everyone throughout the game. What do you do when the bad guys simply want to use you and the good guys want the KH equivalence of death for you? Of course, simply dying isn't enough as the ultimate kick in the nuts comes in the form of everyone forgetting you even existed.

I don't know what happens in Dream Drop Distance, but I hope she can be restored. The series has hinted that its a possibility.

For Birth by Sleep I mostly go on what actually occurred, rather then what is hinted at. But I still see your point. I personally considered other characters finishing a game with a raw deal different then Birth by Sleep because in that game you were actually controlling and a lot of time playing as those characters. Also, what differences it for me is the combination of those characters getting a raw deal and Xehanort mostly coming out of it pretty well. I can still see what you mean about the other characters though.
