Eve Online Players are going to hate that this exists.

Hmmm this looks like another PS3 Halo wannabe like Haze was. At least this one has no sign of yellow body armor in it!

The game looks bland but the idea behind could awesome.

I feel like a dick for saying it, but this just feels like another me too online shooter. It looks very generic and fucking boring. Only thing that can save it is super kick ass gameplay, nothing else.

so does this mean that i now have to protect my planetary installations by paying people playing on Ps3 with Isk???

Excited for this. This could be really fun depending on how much interaction between the two game systems make it into both games.

The concept is definitely nutty and unique enough to pique my interest despite a general dislike of FPS titles and 99% of MMOs. I look forward to hearing more about this.

I wonder how the serious massive companies will trial you to fight for them, if they are spending serious ISK to help support you they will want results.
 
Crazy concept for a crazy MMO, I'm not into MMOs but this integration is insane.

This looks cool but I don't want to play EVE really. As long as the synergy with eve is in such a way that my experience with dust 514 isn't negatively impacted by only playing one game, i'm down to try this out.

I'm super interested in seeing how this integrates into Eve.

If you think armor costing the same as a frigate is crazy, wait till Incarana when you'll be able to buy a jacket for the price of a cruiser. My estimate of course. 1 PLEX is over 300M ISK. So if they aim for an item of clothing to be $1, that is 17M ISK. Best not to think about it that way. It's all equal to player time or the cash you bought the PLEX with. That is the comparison that matters.

Any synergy with Eve is.. a very cool thing to see. Good work Sony and CCP!

I don't think a lot of people realize how truly unique the whole idea behind this game is. It's an unprecedented bridging between two completely different games on totally different platforms. People seem to think this is "just another shooter" but it's really a fascinating experiment that more closely resembles an MMOFPS that is also sort of a companion piece to EVE Online.
 
Also, it being on the Ps3 is fine, people. Yeah maybe it should be on the PC as well, but who the hell cares? This entire project is about bridging together two completely different things. They've been saying since it was very first announced that it was directed at getting the PC EVE Online players to try their skills in a totally different environment. Apparently alot of diehard EVE players don't like it when they're encouraged to break out of their PC shells.

Should have been on the PC, now it's going to get next to none of the EVE audience interested and get crushed under the dozens on consoles FPS games released on a monthly basis.

Hopefully they let you choose which side you want to fight for. I'm guessing from that red hexagonal grid thing planets will be conquered by multiple maps being won.

I hope this hybrid MMO thing will catch on. This could totally work with something like the Halo universe.

the way they put a price on everything in the trailer leads me to believe that everything, tanks, transport, even the players (soldiers) will cost something to implement. If thats so then the money has to come from EvE which would mean from corporation funding right?

Thats how i see this working at least.

So, is this an MMO shooter? Or is it a one player story driven kinda thing? 
Is the battle ALWAYS different seeing as how things will have effect in the MMO? 
 
From what I am getting, this is like MAG attached to EVE... need more details but interesting nevertheless.

Imma gonna have to Dust (514) off my EVE online account. Got the PS3 sitting right next to the PC with multiple monitors. I will be the most uber Capsuleer ever! xD xD xD

With how close minded MS is with Xbox Live, even going so far as to kill the Marvel MMO they had in development, I doubt it was CCP's choice. MS probably slapped on more restrictions than they could deal with.

Also... 213,333 ISK for front line infantry armor? You could buy a small frigate for that.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It will depend on how good the game actually is (the gameplay, graphics quality, performace, etc) and how deep/wide the connection with EVE is. I will say that CCP is great at having huge scale at real time. If DUST and EVE players feel more like they're playing the same game with each other, then this will be very interesting.
 
In another note, I really hope Microsoft loosens their restriction on XBL. Steam and DUST are/will be doing awesome stuff by doing more of their own platform integration. I think that's partly the reason for the PS3-exclusivity, although I scratch my head at no PC. Hopefully it is a timed exclusive, but I seriously doubt it. I can count the number of multiplayer FPS's with mixed PC/console multiplayer on one hand.

I'm loving the idea this has, and it would give me a reason to "play" eve

Did they say it was exclusive to the PS3 console or platform? Cause I know they said FFXIV was exclusive to PS3, but it's also on PC.

CCP is one of the few companies left that actually knows what they are doing when it comes to MMOs anymore, or at least open-ended games.

Interesting... does CCP have a pedigree for this kind of thing? Did they hire anyone important? Seems odd.
