E3 2011: Halo 4 Trailer

Ok, we had 2 Halo games without the  Chief. I am ready for his return.

I agree with most of your points, but the animations in the cutscenes of Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 were always abysmal, actually border-line amateurish.

Halo CE was understandable, it was a 2001 PC game being ported at the last minute to a console, but the sequels were marquee titles with massive financial resources behind them. The character animations in combat were passable in an exaggerated way, but it wasn't until Halo: Reach that Bungie managed animations that were worthy of a premiere title. They finally figured out how to do motion-capture, and that set the bar pretty high for the rest of the animation team.

But yes, the animation here just didn't look very natural, and the entire visual style was a bit off. I recognized Steve Downes doing the Chief's voice, but was that still Jen Taylor doing Cortana? I still can't quite tell.

Sigh... I've played through Halo 3 & Reach. I don't understand what you guys see?! Mass Effect, now that's a game!

I've always admired the trailers done for the halo series, always well made and makes me interested in the game.

Any confirmation whether or not Martin O'Donnell and the others are doing the music? The pieces they've composed for all the Halo games are just fantastic and I'd hate to see them not do so for these next three games.

It's only a teaser trailer. I imagine the new weapon equipment and suit powers he had will be part of the gameplay, something he might not get until later but are just showing in the trailer as a tease. It doesn't mean he'll actually start with that stuff. Also, this was a CG trailer. It was likely farmed out to a different studio to make, not even Bungie made their own CG videos, so it's not in anyway representative of the game or developers talents.

First of all, you can't go and install completely new tech into someone's power armor while they're in cryostasis. I don't think it works like that. Lets hope they've got a new game engine to work with. Halo Reach was good looking, but compared to Killzone, Call Of Duty and Battlefield, it was like an original Xbox game.

And I hope that's Unicron at the end making his game debut.

Everyone who played halo 3 knew there would be another halo game with the chief in it and yet people love to bitch how they shouldn't have done this and should have done that.

They'll all buy it anyway because like all halo games, it will have a certain level of quality and polish reserved for very few marquee titles every few years...

                   

               

I am not surprised there is new Halo, heck, you can even announce new trilogy and I will take it, sure - but when I was "HALO 4" I said What the fuck? when I was in the room alone.
