Yeah, I'll play another one of these. I kind of wish this was New "Super Mario Bros. 2" instead of "New Super Mario Bros." 2, if you know what I mean.

Honestly I think this looks boring as shit. And I thought the last one looked really fun. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

So this game is about how much money it will make for Nintendo?

I am definitely psyched for this - I did not care for Super Mario 3DS, this seems like a pace of mario game much more acustomed to my tastes and I am definitely looking forward to it. Innovative or not - it is nice to see more of a franchise which (at least the wii version I felt) had some of the best level design I have seen Nintendo do.

The only problem I see with this one is if it is getting the short straw - why all the coins? Is there a story reason? Is there a new shop to actually use them at? Is this all just a gimmick to differentiate it from the WiiU version. I am still looking forward to it but I definitely see where the bitter people are coming from - hopefully some other 3DS stuff for them will be talked about later today at Nintendo's second conference.

It seems like you'll be able to get a fuck-ton of 1-ups real easily in this game.

Finally a Mario game for Ron Paul supporters.

That's what I thought it was going to be initially and thought cool. I haven't played a Mario game since Mario World, and Mario 2 was always a little odd but I thought it was cool how every character had a special power. Oh well.

It's a good thing you get a 1up for hitting the top of the flagpole. You only earned 27 lives in that level.

Still not sure why this isn't a Wario game. Well, at least they got the Super Leaf right this time, unlike 3D Land.

Seems like they are overloading the game with gold coins now to make it even easier to play & less fun. Looks like a slightly more 3d version of the one that came a little while ago & surprised that the trailer didn't show any of the ruinous multiplayer feature.

The coin craziness makes me think this started as a Wario Land platformer. They still hit my nostalgia weak point when raccoon suit Mario showed up.

New Super Mario Bros. 2: Becoming the 1%

This Mario game is set in Pre-War Germany during the deutsche mark inflation.

I wish it didn't look just like the other one.... Nintendo is so innovative. :(

This looks awesome. All of the coin collection seems super satisfying. Plus, I like how it plays up the fact that in most modern Mario games (like Super Mario 3D Land) I ended up having like 246 lives stacked up. Maybe this game will make accruing tons of coins and lives part of the gameplay somehow.

Why is everyone overlooking the fact that this game has the raccoon tail AND you can fly like in SMB 3? Everything I see is about the coins but this is the first game to have that exact mechanic since Super Mario World. Also I LOVED Super Mario 3D Land, I thought it was genius (and I didn't love New Super Mario Bros. on DS) so I don't know if I'll like this as much as 3D Land.

Hyped for this. Can always go for a 2D Mario adventure. Also seems Nintendo have finaly embraced undermining the lives system.

Really should ditch the lives and 100 coins gets you a one up. You should be saving every coinyou collect into a wallet which you can use to by cool in game bonus stuff.

Yeah, I'm not feeling this. Especially with the whole coin mechanic. Why even have 1ups at that point? They mentioned on the livestream tonight that the goal of the game is to reach 1 million coins - that's 10,000 1ups. Somebody at Nintendo's not thinking about this hard enough.

As if lives weren't already an irrelevant mechanic in Mario games, they're doing the same thing with the coins.
