E3 2013: Commander Mode is Back in Battlefield 4

Too little too late if you ask me. They're bringing back all the good stuff but it looks like the same crap from BF3.

is the ability to command through a tablet only confirmed with smartglass/is there any word of it on ps4? I love commander mode but without a mouse or tablet I would imagine it being a nightmare.

I'd wish Commander mode would be something people could be able to embrace, but you don't have the (random) players online to pull this off?

Yet Battlefield isn't really about that sim experience? Certainly not with gamepad player types. Too bad.

So I suppose when BF5 comes around, it will have all the features of BF2.

That's one step. Five person squads and drawn lines to objectives on the map is another good one. Next, there had better be in-game voice chat, more command options for squad leaders and even more feedback for squad members, spawning only allowed on squad leaders and limited ammo/health crates for dropping. Then I'll be mostly satisfied. I'd love to make a fuss about using a magazine pool instead of a bullet pool, but no sane mainstream game would do that nowadays, so I can let that slide I guess... I think the run speed also seems slower than in BF3, so I think my hopes/fears that this is going to be the proper Battlefield sequel that the cobbled-together BF3 failed to be (as opposed to a rushed cash-in to capitalize on the success of BF3) are coming true.

Now to figure out if this makes me even more bummed out that I've been sitting here trying to have fun with BF3 the whole time and they're shoving off to the side, or if it revives my faith in the franchise and makes this a day-one purchase. Hmmm...

Fantastic. I was pretty bummed out it wasn't in BF3. I mean, there has to be a commander mode for a PC player though, yeah? It would be crazy for it to be stuck on tablets.

THE COMMANDER WAS A GIRL THE WHOLE TIME! Gasp.

BF3 had virtually no teamwork on the PC because DICE decided to go full retard and remove in-game VOIP, Commander, and 6 player squads. The Commander was in charge of giving individual squad leaders orders and could even talk to all of them at once. Then squad leaders would carry out those orders. BF3 was worse in teamwork than any COD game because at least COD developers aren't stupid enough to take out crucial PC features especially in an online MP shooter.

DICE is playing catch-up to games they made back in 2004 and 2006. Ridiculously embarrassing.

hmmm not sure how this will turn out. IMO BC2 and BF3 did just fine without commanders, and I didn't miss them one bit.

That whole sequence where they go up the skyscrapers elevator to the roof, fighting all the way, and parachute off when it starts to collapse!! Insane!!
