@Abyssfull: I had the worst trouble (and sweetest victory) in the original RE, during the playthrough with Chris Redfield. Those bastards were so stingy with the ammo that I had to fight the 2nd version of the giant snake with a handful of first aid sprays and the combat knife.

So it's supposed to be scary FIRST and MORE IMPORTANTLY than being good? What kind of sick logic is that? All games need to be good, first and foremost, the end.

That's why Resident Evil 4 was such a fucking great game. It got rid of the horrible, broken, almost impossible to enjoy gameplay from the first few games and just focused on kicking ass. And it did kick lots of ass.

And yet I take him seriously, for he is right. RE5 is the best game in the series by default, because it added co-op play, which made it endlessly enjoyable, albeit not in the way the earlier games were enjoyable.

I guess It wasn't that hard once you got past the learning curve of all the tweaked damage/health modifiers, but calling it pretty easy is still not how I'd describe it.

1. And that was when exactly? RE has never been scary. Dogs jumping through windows isn't really scary. 

2. Well everything pre 5 was better than good, even 3. 5 was fine. Was it as good as 4? no. Was it going to be? Doubtful. Did they do it especially to piss you off personally? Probably.

3. So, no moving and shooting then? Puzzle pieces that you keep in your inventory for hours? A box which holds all your stuff and that you can only access in a certain room? Ink ribbons? Putting jewels into tiger figurine eyes and moving boxes or step ladders about? Have you played Deadly Premonition...cause thats what RE was before 4. I loved those game and I love Deadly Premonition, but you can't expect Capcom to return to a concept that's 10 years out of date.

4 evolved the series, they're hardly going to go back to what 1-3 were like considering how well regarded 4 generally is. Hopefully they'll look at what they did wrong in 5, but it was generally well received by people.

Did you even play Resident Evil 5's coop mercenaries? It is insane amounts of fun to play the mercenaries mode with a buddy, trying to full clear the levels. We'd sometimes load up the game and sink 6 hours into playing just it and blow our days away.

Oh, Capcom, you overseas outsourcing, safe playing shell of a company that I once loved. Will the sisters three ever conspire to have you deliver something as great as RE4 ever again? I doubt it, so overseas outsourced, overseas aimed squad based shooter flop it is then!

RE:CV is a definate buy, RE4 is a maybe when im finished with CV, fuck it, dont let capcom hear this, but i would probably buy any of the old resident evil games they want to put out there for download

Looks like I'll be picking RE4 HD up for sure. I never played the PS2 version, so there's plenty for me to enjoy. I'll echo others and say I'd really like to see the Gamecube remake of the first game get the same treatment, even if it means going back to tank controls.

Technically, Dreamcast games ran on their own proprietary format that could hold around a gigabyte's worth of data. While (most) Dreamcast consoles can also read games burned onto CDs, that's because of a security flaw. No games officially licensed for the system by Sega, as far as I know, were pressed onto CDs, since the format they used was supposed to be harder to pirate to begin with.

I think they need to make a better ending to the RE story. I was thinking more like something along the lines of what they did with MGS4. They need to bring all the main characters together that you've experienced playing (knowing) as you've gone through the series, and end with it that way. I'd like to see Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine together, and so on. It'd be awesome! Wesker just needs to come back ha ha.

Dreamcast were on CDs.

Gamecube had their own mini DVD disc thing going. Similar to a DVD but didn't hold quite as much.

@LackLuster: I'm a huge wuss  but the only time I've been freaked out during a resident evil game that I've played was when Mr. X started busting through walls in RE2. Hunters freak me out but thats because they are annoying and way faster than my charatcer and take a lot of hits. RE4 and RE5 are not scary at all. 
I bet if i played REmake I'd be scared though.

That's meant to be because Revelations is a prequel to RE5. Still, minus the reasoning of it all, it is nice to have her back to brunnet, I agree :P

It's true the chronology of the series is a fucking disaster at this point too. No doubt the reason as to why they're just releasing HD re-releases, prequels and spin offs, since it's a hell lot easier than trying to work around the fiction they created, and royally boned. Just give us that damn RE6 reboot or whatever you had planned!

It's funny cause Code Veronica is the only game in the series which I own but can't play cause I don't have my PS2 anymore. Played RE4 last year so don't need that but Revelations could be the sweet although it looks like it might be 3DS?
