GDC 2011: The SWERY Experience

Unexpected and awesome. Had me smiling pretty much the whole way through.

Shit like this is the reason why Giant Bomb gets my money in the form of a yearly subscription.  Goddamn excellent interview!

Amazing interview. From a guy who watched the whole ER and loved the story (hated the combat), I was glad to see GB talk to SWERY.

And, man, Swery's reaction to the cards just made me insanely happy. Knowing that something that I put my heart into will be sitting with Swery in his office or home or wherever he decides to keep the stuff is just a great feeling. I was smiling the whole time, especially towards the end when exchanged gifts. Man, this was so good. You could almost feel Swery's smile through the monitor when he was looking through that deck of cards.

Probably the video I'm most happy exists this year. I've been delving back into Deadly Premonition over the last couple of weeks to see more of the side content, and the wacky flavor that the game carries is worming its way into a permanent spot in my heart. 
 
I love Deadly Premonition, SWERY. It's absolutely my favorite game of last year, and with me it sits in great company with games like Resident Evil 4, BioShock, and Portal. 
 
Although, come to think of it, would Resident Evil 4 still keep its place now that Deadly Premonition exists?

This is by far one of the best and--dare I say it--the most heartwarming interview I've ever watched. Thanks GB crew for this, you guys are the best! And go Swery! :)

This is by far and away the coolest shit you guys have ever managed to put together. A lot more funnier stuff, a lot more informative stuff, but this is just downright awesome. Things like this are why another endurance run would be awesome, if you could get the developer or director or someone similar to talk about the game afterwards.

ohhhh WOW! When I first saw the screencap with SWERY and the Luchadeer I couldn't believe he was actually there, then I saw the video and couldn't stop smiling. I'm in the middle of playthrough 2 and goddamn I love this game!

Watching Swery look at those cards made me smile so huge. You could tell he really loved and enjoyed the appreciation of something he cared deeply for and put so much work into. I love seeing developers so invested in the things they've created. 
 
Also, that business card was totally boss.
