WORD. It wasn't a racial statement at all. Japanese video games should be inferred to mean "video games produced in the country of Japan", not "video games produced by Japanese people", I know there is a massive overlap between those two statements, but the attack is not on the people, but the common concepts and ideas that those people apply to video game design.

If you want to split hairs like this, it's racist that America had 43 white Presidents. It's racist that Obama was the first black President. It's racist that we refer to Europeans as Europeans despite the fact that Europe is an extremely diverse region of many different peoples.

But that's never what people mean. Because people don't care about race. If you do, you are the racist.

The cake story was partially mentioned in a mailbag video from 2010. Man, they took their time to tell it.

awesome stream guys, this is probably the best after hours show you have ever done, everyone on on it was genuinely great to listen to. It was a probably the best combination of interesting, informative, stupid and ridiculous I have ever seen in anything, and it just distilled everything I like about this website perfectly, loved the audio/music talk in the middle too, nothing but good vibes for me.

To top that off, a number of people in my parent's range of peers drink from flasks regularly. It seemed odd to see phil doing it, but not too much.

I wouldn't be against hearing counter-arguments from someone who's played Fez.

Yeah, when you actually get to hear him speak in more than soundbytes and out-of-context quotes, he actually comes across like a reasonable human being!

Phil Fish was awesome I hope he gets involved in more giant bomb stuff. Maybe at E3 or pax prime. Also I loved seeing Carrie again i wish she was still doing game journalism and could join the giant bomb crew it would be amazing.

Also Fez was awesome. Easily one of my favorite games of all time, even with the dumb final puzzle thing.

Yeah, I think that there is a cultural disconnect between many Europeans and Americans when it comes to the French Canadian stuff. Phil Fish isn't more of an asshole than any Quebecer I have ever met. In fact, he is probably one of the more tame. Not saying Quebecers are assholes, but they have slightly looser lips when it comes to speaking their mind.
