Man I forget about Silicon Knights. Is this really what they have been working on all this time?

Gaming is so cool.... And personal. I absolutely loved Too Human (please, it was supposed to be trilogy, now get on it!!), but I thought Eternal Darkness sucked incredibly (I just didn't get it). So, as it's a game by SK, I'm not gonna judge this book by its cover...

Where is Ororo Munroe aka Storm? I want to be able to strike lightning and summon whirlwinds

This is the dumbest looking game I have exposed myself to a trailer of in years.

Conceptually I think this game is fine, if you wanna play as wolverine there's plenty of other games to satisfy you, but the actual look of this game is just so cruddy and dull, really generic looking.   It's a Silicon Knights project so I'm hoping something nuts comes out of this, but otherwise it just looks kinda dull.

Here's hoping you don't attack with the right analogue stick. Graphically it looks pretty meh but most SK games do. ED was a horrible looking game but it's one of the most amazing games ever so let's just wait and see how this is but off the bat the characters here look pretty bland and Sucker Punch wasn't known for its amazing acting I might add.

Ehhh... Yeah. The graphics aren't too hot, but the gameplay might be fine. I'd like the ability to make a completely custom character as well, and it's a big negative that you can't, but that doesn't mean the game is automatically going to suck. Still, I can't say my hopes for this game are high -- which is really a shame, because I used to hold SK in really high regard. Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games of all time, but their level of quality took a noticeably downward spike with Too Human, despite the fact that I liked that game overall. I hope they can turn around after this game ships and come back strong with a greatly improved Too Human sequel.

This is coming out at the end of this month. Oof. This would look bad even if it was 6 months out from release, never mind a finished product. 
 
Remember when Silicon Knights made good games like Eternal Darkness? I almost don't because it's been nearly 10 goddamn years.

I think this game looks cool and sounds promising. I doubt it'll be Infamous-meets-Deus Ex or Mass Effect (how cool would that be, though? I hope Phosphor's Awakened becomes that game), but it should be pretty good. 
 
It just looks really dumb having the X-Men, in some of their most....colorful outfits, next to those two generic doofus'. I mean, honestly - who isn't gonna choose the cool looking asian chick? The other two guys, doing their best to be the blandest they can be, REALLY contrast with the yellow/blue X-Men designs. Silicon Knights shouldn't play up the whole "choice" thing when they omitted a character creator from the beginning of the game. That is a really, really dumb decision. 
 
At the very least, they should've put in loads of customizable "armor" pieces, so you could take blandy no.1 or blandy no.2 and dress them up in a unique outfit. But to expect those guys to fit in with the rest of the mutants when all they're wearing are jeans and t-shirts is moronic. I don't know if it's Activision, Silicon Knights, or Marvel's call, but it was a dumb one.

3:23-43 was some of the worst bullshitting I've ever seen. Twenty seconds of Denis Dyack pretending he was saying something meaningful, but if you actually think about the words coming out of his mouth he said absolutely nothing.

He could of summed it up by saying "bullshit: it's what sets this game apart."

Yeah, I've said it before, I really want to play as the characters I know. I don't want to make the angsty teenage X-Men and play alongside Wolverine or Magneto. I just want to be the characters I know.

Nothing gets me hyped about a game like "Rich Content"  .  Hell yeah Dennis Dyack,  just like in Too Human.  That game was full of "Rich Content".  Can't wait to hear what they blame their failures on this time around.  Will it be the engine?  Will it be the License?  Will it be pressure from Activision?   Only time will tell, but they better not lose that "Rich Content" experience that I'm looking for.

Ok, this game looks terrible but I'll try to keep an open mind. It might end up being better than expected. The story and the set pieces could completely turn this game around.

That said. Why can't someone other than Activision and Sega have the Marvel license? The games they have been producing for the past several years haven't been AAA. not even close. Except for the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance and the Capcom games, Marvel games this generation have been very disappointing.

I don't even know where to start, so I'll leave all the commentary on how bad this looks to everyone else.
 
What I want to focus on is the moronic use of the word "destiny." It's crazily common, but this game in particular really prods at my nerves.
 
By definition, "destiny" denotes predetermination. It's impossible to "choose your destiny." If it's destiny, then it's going to happen regardless of your choices- that's what destiny is.

Dammit, couldn't you at least have given us a basic skin editor to go along with all 3 body types? A few rudimentary tools to make something original for my character? Pick the color of my costume? Come on people, if you are not going to let me play as a character I am already a fan of, at least let me make one that I like...  Have they heard of DC Online?
 
Maybe there is still more to this game we are not seeing yet?  Is there a chance that picking powers might allow you to customize your character more?

It's funny they showed the Heroes guy, cos I was just thinking "why don't they make the main character a mutant who absorbs other mutant's powers by hangin out with them?".

Wait, so I'm not designing my own character? That sucks BAD, especially considering that the ones created by the developers are so typical.

This game looks terrible in every way. I'm not just saying that to be an edgy dick either. When they announced this I got excited, an Mass Effect styled X-Men game? Fuck yes! But this is one of the worst looking games I have ever seen. All the cool shit they talk about in this video is meaningless once you see 30 seconds of game footage.

This looks pretty by the numbers, and FINALLY a game about choice, been waiting for one of those.

No matter how much they are gonna buff this game up, it's gonna suck soo bad :-D

This is all so generic.  No wonder Silicon Knights are failing as a developer, they aren't very good.

They are talking generically about normal things like Mo Cap and how they like it, but arent saying interesting that theyre doing with it besides simply using it.

Nothing about this game looks impressive or innovative. Graphics look like ass, the gameplay looks like ass, and the concept is like the 5th time I've heard "choose your own powers based off of X-Men powers". . . and their mo-cap ain't got shit on Uncharted.

"Never before have you been able to choose different powers and different selections in a game like X-Men destiny"....  Really?  What about, I don't know, just about every game like it.  And are they really trying to impress with the fact that they hired voice actors and used motion capture?  That's not impressive, that's standard.  I assume a game like this will do that in the same way I assume they will have developed functionality to save my game.  It's just adequate.  Although I certainly doubt the overall game will be praised as highly as adequate, if this is any indication at all.

X-Men is a dumb comic and this game looks like dumb fun so I don't see how this can go wrong.

Looks like it could be good, but my biggest problem with the game is the costumes. They have all the real heroes running around in traditional old school super hero style costumes, but then the player character is just some generic buff dude bro wearing a shirt and jeans. It looks stupid next to each other.

Everything they just said sounded bad... They're talking it up as if it had Bethesda level character customization, but it really sounds like it is extremely limited and everything but creative. Why would I want powers that already exist? Make up something new...
