I really enjoy the heavy kick of that gun, and if they're pushing a play style focused more around staggering enemies than blocking attacks with a shield it could be a nice, fresh change to the Souls formula.

Love the art direction in this. I have always been underwhelmed by the environment and character art in past Souls games. I felt like it didn't stand up to the great monster art they do. Here is looks like every part of the art direction is fantastic and the addition of guns should make for some interesting changes.

I'm only 20 seconds into the video and the player picks up an item, then has to hit X to confirm that he picked up the item before the message goes away.

I honestly don't get the hype for this. Is this pre-alpha footage? You run up, slice at a guy, which doesn't really look like it even connects, and some blood flies out. There's no rip in their clothing or any visual acknowledgement.

Where's the next-gen at?

Oh man, when I put on my headphones for the vid, I didn't realize my horror audiobook from last night was still playing- gave me the impression Bloodborne was being narrated in a really weird and creepy way and I thought "wow, this REALLY is a step up from Dark Souls!"... when I figured it out and muted the book I was very disappointed!

Game looks lovely tho :)

Different games use different ways to utilize what power the consoles/engines/what have you use. I'm sure they decided to use ripntear clothing usage in another way.

Like the cool lighting effects, OH WAIT...

But, the combat just looks like dark souls / daemons souls combat, with maybe a more diverse counter on bigger enemy's.

It also looks like that boss was the boss from the Dark Souls 1 DLC

Don't trust visuals until you see a release copy. Dark Souls 2 looked really good pre-release and then when it came out a lot of the detail was removed.

So, judging from some of the voice overs of enemies, it seems like people who die in that town somehow turn into 'beasts' (ex: the one at around the 2:25 mark says 'I don't want to be a beast') and your character may be at least partially a 'beast' already assuming the townsfolk aren't completely insane since around the 2 minute mark they seem to be calling the playable character a 'beast' (it's a bit hard to make out though).

Other things of note from this trailer (not sure if they've already been mentioned in interviews somewhere):

Places requiring a torch seem like they'll be more common this time around since even a random sideroom was practically pitch black; this makes sense since the offhand can simply be a dedicated 'torch hand' if there's really no offhand gear and switching between wielding a weapon in one or both hands is pretty fast.

It looks like there's probably a single type of healing item in the game, 'Blood Vials'. It's possible that there might be some sort of rarer consumable, but these are what's represented by that big number in the upper-left with the orange background (the number jumps from 6 to 9 when he picks up a set of 3 of them). They also seem to have a nearly instantaneous usage time, probably both to keep with the faster nature of the game and to make up for being consumable items (though it wouldn't surprise me if there was a way to get back a bare minimum of them at certain points if you fall below said minimum).

There's a grace period during which to regain your health via attacks after being hit. Instead of simply vanishing upon taking damage, part of the lifebar instead turns into a small red line; when the player attacks, the health bar refills up to the end of this line. The grace period for recovering health this way seems to be about 6 seconds (the player gets hit at 2:23 and refills most of the damage via attacks, but a final sliver of potentially recoverable health vanishes at 2:29). Given the name of the game, I wonder if non-bleeding enemies (ex: animated statues) will not be possible to regenerate off of.

There is a huge insect-like creature surrounding a building in the background at 5:04. It might be a spider, but the head doesn't really look like one. They seem to try pretty hard to avoid showing it during the Cleric Beast fight (lots of cuts whenever the camera is turning in that direction) so I wonder if they didn't mean to reveal it.

At least the base Hunter Bullets seem to deal fairly bad damage, but they seem to make just about any enemy flinch with a single hit, which is sure to come in handy.

the visuals and atmosphere are great. There is something about the gameplay, speed and sound design that doesn't do it for me though...it feels more arcady...doesn't it?

I was about to post this same thing. The art, the world, the enemy design is all so cool, but I'm really not into the teleporting dodge, the transforming weapons, shotgun-stuns-to-critical-hit maneuvers. Normally when From Software makes a series of changes to these games you can see how they line up in a way that meets a particular goal. Maybe, in Bloodborne's case, I just can't tell what that goal is yet?

Holy Shit! When that NPC/human player just rushed that dude while scraping the ground with the weapon I lost my shit. This game is going to be super hype. Atmosphere, combat, and music is all there.

Man that UI sure looks like a Souls game but everything else about it looks just a little bit...off (from this admittedly tiny sample). It doesn't have the weightiness that I associate with Souls games. I'm looking forward to see what the Souls diehards think about this one. The setting and some of the gameplay looks really interesting and different (no shield, but guns and dodging?)
