I loved Ground Zero but good god do I not have any interest in this.

Sooo many fade to blacks, it almost made my eyes hurt.

I hope this is all just a huge troll and the first line in the games opening will be David Hayter saying "kept you waiting".

Review time for this game will be very interesting. Not that Konami's business practices should impact scores, but how many reviewers are going to mention the odious goings-on over there? You can't not mention it, can you? If gamers are serious about ethics in games journalism than the elephant in the room should not be ignored.

I've been a fan of the MGS series for many years now, but with all of these reveals of behind the scenes drama and this first glimpse of a potential Metal Gear world without Kojima...

It was all a dream.

Playing through the series now. Finished all the ones I've previously played, currently going through Peace Walker with Ground Zeroes and Rising left to go. Getting hype! :)

This trailer is basically MGS as experienced by someone so tired that they literally can't keep their eyes open for more than 1.5 seconds at a time.

@stryker1121: Konami's business practices as company have no impact in a review. Reviews are meant to inform the consumer on a buying decision, period. It would actually be a bigger breach of ethics to mention the business side of the game and have that bias a review. Whether or not a company is shitty has no bearing on whether the game is actually good or bad.

Or maybe they're just going to review the actual game, not the developer? Why the hell should a review of a game talk anything about how the developer of it is treating its employees? That's completely irrelevant.

@laxbro19: Games (products) don't exist in a vacuum. Maybe as a consumer I don't want my money funding terrible business practices.

If you compare this trailer to the MGS4 launch trailer, it's actually pretty similar. The idea is to get people who don't know anything about MGS in on the game as they get closer to launch.

It also doesn't have any credits to Kojima for editing it, so it was probably edited by someone at Konami.

Talk all the shit about Kojima that you want, that man could edit a trailer.

@super_machine: Yep - this. Hayter is THE voice of Boss / Snake. Not that I don't like Keifer, I'm just rather concerned that he's hardly saying anything and when he does its a gruff murmur. If there's one thing I hate in a lot of games that try it, it's a silent / near silent protaganist and it's something MGS should never suffer from.

Kojima made his trailers look like actual movie trailers along with the good choice of music and direction, this Konami edit was your ordinary video game trailer we've seen thousand of times.

Not to be, "that guy", but the footage from the trailer doesn't look as good as Ground Zeroes on my PC. For reference, I have a 750ti.

The frame rate does look to be at least 60 fps in the trailer though. Very smooth.

No Kojima means these trailers have turned into some generic summer movie trailer instead of the Metal Gear trailers I know and love.

I've been holding onto this dream since the announcement came down and the closer we get, the more worried I become. No! What am I saying? Hayter will be there. And when he does, I'll say, "See? I told he'd come! He's gonna bring us food, and water and SMITE our enemies!"

*ahem* On a more serious note, this trailer looks fine. It's typical in the "show a lot, but don't SHOW a lot" MGS trailer style. Sure, it edges a little more toward the epic, overblown trailers of other AAA games, but in a weird way, I think that's comically ironic. Also, why the fuck would Konami's business practices affect reviews of the game? That's unprofessional as all Hell.

A MGS trailer with explosions and gunfire? It's almost like...

...oh yeah.

I'm ready to explode waiting for this game.

@ugmiester: If you were aiming down the sights, I think the patched eye would be closed anyway. Try aiming with something, you'll probably use the other eye.

Also. What if you fight solid snake at the end ala Metal Gear? The whole thing wraps up and meets in the middle. WHAT. IF.

I get the feeling there aren't that many cutscenes in this game. Either that, or they have cut together more trailers over the years than there are meaningful storytelling sequences in the game.
