Some people don't seem to understand what the problem is with this trailer. It revels in graphic violence against abjectly sexualized women. If you can't see the problem with this, it's because you are either immature, socially unaware, or an idiot by nature.

THIS is why the video game industry gets no respect.

Sure, the nuns are super goofy, and they definitely seem like a gang in Saints Row, but as someone who's never really played Hitman but has seen some of the goofier shit that they've put into Hitman games in the past... I don't get the hatred for this trailer. Sure, it's dumb, but who cares? Maybe I need to have played the previous games to get some kind of context for why people are upset about this.

@VibratingDonkey: Yeah, but hopes are that the library level is just the final sequence of a much bigger stage, where he's been pinned down to that small location. At least I hope so. Hitman is all about options and the possibility to improvise with what you have, so I doubt they change that.

I hope this trailer doesn't represent the actual gameplay, but it is cool for what it is.

Who on earth thought this was a good piece of marketing?

"I want to simultaneously objectify women, but also get across that we hate women."

Videogames are fucked up.

I love all the comments of people bashing this trailer. Relax.

Thank you. For everyone saying they'll no longer buy the game because of this trailer; grow a spine.

It's funny because the same kinds of people that would normally shit all over a pre-rendered trailer arguing that it gives no impression of how a game will turn out are the same folks eating this one up and crying foul that it's a sign of the end for Hitman.

While a trailer doesn't always exactly accurately depict a game/gameplay, it can show the direction and audience that the developers were hoping for. What many fans are worried about is that Hitman will become more action and gun focused... which is pretty much the opposite reason why Hitman: Blood Money was loved so much.

I just don't understand the angry mob reaction to a pre-rendered trailer. They've never been taken seriously one way or another as indicative of how a game will turn out, and I'm not sure why that's suddenly the case now. Save the pitchforks for E3 when we actually see something.

I'm a Hitman fan and I recognize the concern of the franchise going more action-oriented, but I'm waiting until next week for, you know, some more actual gameplay footage before passing judgement.

People have gotten increasingly crazy on the internet and herd mentality coupled with Jeffs title doesn't help.

I enjoy whored out nuns, titties, and ass as much as the next guy, but this just seems like another case of "sex sells" for a series that's never been about 'turning the player on.'

I for one think this trailer looks great. It's a CG trailer, not gameplay footage, I'm willing to reserve my judgement about what the game will play like until we see more. Furthermore, while I'd love to play a game in the style of classic Hitman, if they deliver a crazy stylish, fun to play, combat oriented action shooter I'm not going to complain.

I wrote a blog about Absolution, and how I thought it would be bad. As a long time Hitman fan since Hitman 2, the game is already in the garbage can, alot of Hitman trailers had this. They could though make the trailer much better.

They changed the game waaaay to much, the Bateson and Kyd exchange I can deal with, but the change of the game they made, completely abandoned the stealth system from previous games, and just include SHOOT THAT GUY, TOTALLY RADICAL effect.

I was looking forward to this game very much indeed. This trailer has depleted alot of that enthusiasm.

Why oh why do (many) devs (or people who control the direction of games) still think that the majority of gamers are teen males who wish to have simple experiences full of boobs, bangs or balls (sports... ). Im surprised we have not yet seen 'Super Stripper Shotgun Soccer Stars!', as it encapsulates all the right things apparently...

Until the continually maturing audience of videogames gets permanently recognized it's no wonder that games in general will forever be the poor cousin of all other media. The game industry sure doesnt help itself.

Of course it is, did you honestly expect anything different? It amazes me that there are people in this thread that seem to have this idea in their head that old school Hitman can still sell. It can't, it won't. The folks at IO need to revitalize this franchise in order to draw in the larger crowd. Sure, we'd all love it if our nostalgia was still relevant, but in most cases... it's not. I'm not defending this trailer, which in itself if pretty bad, but to expect anything but a cookie cutter experience is wishful thinking at best.

Chronologicaly speaking reagarding this trailer. All that stuff with 47 washing himself and tend to his wounds. Did that happen after the fight with the killer nuns? Because it seems like he got hurt in the same spots. He knocked one of the nuns out with the back of his head and it seemed like he got hurt in the back. Just asking because it's kind of confusingly cut.

Also.... please watch through some other Hitman trailers from past games. A couple of them also focused a lot on action. You see 47 shoot and kill people in rapid succession. This is ten times as pretty but this is not the first time IO markets it's game like this. The Hitman universe is wierd place.

I also watch this trailer three times to see if I got offended. No, not really. Yeah...they are kind of extremly dressed but they don't really show of that much skin and this kind of outfits must be one of the most used ever in superhero movies at the moment. I got really offended by the stupid ass Coco trailer for Ghost Recon but this...don't make me angry. I don't think the trailer (as some writers on sites pointed out) showcases that much bust and butt either, and the propotions are not insane. I don't get the impression that the camera is oogeling the combat nuns.

Quite a furore on the net about this.. I think firstly, its an attention grabber, the standard practice of any attention given, is even bad attention is good attention. I'd hope this isn't the way the series is going though.

Have not got an issue with female assassins, this is 2012, but it always seems to adhere to the lowest denominator, which is the sexy/slutty killer, but again I guess it would get more attention than 6 women in business suits or soccer mum clothes.

The only problem I can see is what has been pointed out already, the image of gamers will again be kicked in the nuts. This along with the Coco promo for Ghost Recon FS just adds to the general medias take on us gamers. Am a little fed up at 36 years old being represented via vids like these... But alas lowest denominator rules as always, so tits and ass will always be here, just not presented in a reasonable fashion...

Ehhh... maybe I'm one of the only Hitman fans not so worried about that particular trailer. The thing this game seems to be going for is that Agent 47 is being hunted down. I mean, being hunted more than he was in the last game, which also featured a couple of sexy assassin chicks trying to kill Agent 47. And hey, look how that game came out! Blood Money is my favorite in the series, pretty handily.

Hitman being hunted makes him not a hitman. In the library level he's Sam Fisher. In this trailer he's a less nice Batman. While I like those guys' games I'd prefer it if Hitman stuck to the freeform assassinating, which is what made Blood Money a great game.

Admittedly the Hitman games, while action being a big part of them, the action was quite underdeveloped, so good on them for improving that I guess. But clever level designs and scenarios is where the focus should be, so far IO has shown none of that. Exploring and experimenting to find different ways of accomplishing goals in varying situations is what makes a Hitman game special, not the ability to hide behind cover and run through scripted set pieces. I sincerely hope they haven't lost that focus, but they're yet to prove it otherwise.

I think the main reason that many have reacted so negatively to this is that the tone of the is trailer so leering. There isn't a sense that this has been done for humor or irony like in Saint's Row. It doesn't give any context or justification for the outfits either, so you can help but feel they did it because they though it was sexy. Which, when combined with the brutal violence the women suffer, comes off as kinda creepy.

No wonder people still think video game fans are nasty masturbatory, teenage, women haters.

Think about it for a second, they have taken what is supposedly the height of female virtue, really revealed them to be slutty killers, and then had them all murdered. I know people think this is all a bit of fun, but what does that say about attitudes to women.

As I said, no wonder most people think gamers are weird.

This trailer is just as ridiculous as every Hitman game, if anything nun assassins is pretty tame compared to some of the weird missions in Hitman. The quality of this trailer is amazing, but maybe it could have been more stealth oriented.

Anyone who calls this sexist is also a moron, if they were men you'd have no problem, surely if women have equal rights it should be no different.

I think for me it is more of an issue that this game is something that previous Hitman games aren't. I really hope that this game does retain the open level with tons of ways to complete it, but everything they have shown so far has been the complete opposite. This trailer just kinda reinforces that for me. Production values are great, but I can't help but feel the stuff that made Hitman great is gone in terms of stealth and almost puzzle-like feel.

The biggest problem is people saying things like "this game is something that previous Hitman games aren't" when no one has even seen that much of it. Theres a handful of early build gameplay videos and most of them look good. I'd honestly like to have a time machine and see what kind of a reaction this trailer would have had Jeff not put that title on it. The game is getting lynched over a stupid CG trailer.

Pretty much my view.....it couldn't have done less to sell me on the game. Made me pretty sad. Also girls in skimpy costumes with big guns is incredibly lazy way to sell your game. You can just imagine the marketing meeting:

What do videogamers like?

I don't really see how this trailer is sexist, the women were shown as sexy yes, but they weren't wearing bikinis and trying to knock him out with their breasts. They were shown as competent assassins that looked cool. Its not like Scarlet Johansen in Avengers who's literally only role/superpower is being good looking.

Judging by the sound of the music - It is VERY similar to Jesper Kyd's style (my favourite videogame music composer). But from what I heard he isn't going to be in this one :( Too busy with Assassin's Creed or something. Godammit Hitman is the ORIGINAL ASSASSIN remember?! Get back on Board Jesper >:(
