Journey To The Savage Coast In Funcom's The Secret World

Interesting, I like it.

Love the environmental designs, it's all straight out of classic New England-based horror fiction. Shame it's in MMO form though :/

Really the only MMO on the horizon that looks tempting to me in terms of world, storyline and gameplay. Though Guild Wars 2's gameplay is also looking pretty good ...

The narration in this trailer reminds me of Alan Wake, but not as good.

I still love the monster design of this game. Hopefully it's not just another Clickquest like so many other MMOs.

Is that narrator Raiden from MGS?  
 
Game is looking rather good, and it's nice to see  a atleast slightly promising videogame from Norway once in a while (norwegian my self). Awaiting some more news and impressions and the payment-method until I decide.

Yep, he's a pretty popular voice actor. But yeah, I heard one word and just heard Raiden from that point forward.

The Environments look great...those faces on the other hand look like plastic. :/

I like the idea of a totally cliche horror world for an MMO, could add a great new dynamic to the usual fairies, elves and warlocks type of stuff we generally get.
 
Has a real Twin Peaks (or should I say Deadly Premonition?) kind of look and vibe to the art direction as well.
 
However, those character models on the playable characters are just downright shit.

The design of the monsters is particularly awesome. I really, really hope this is good. Everything I've seen for it reminds me of the best parts of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (which is a really good thing).

ugh I'd rather this be a co-op game instead of an MMO (I don't play any MMO's and don't plan to). Maybe if they make enough money on this they can finish The Longest Journey's story instead of leaving us on a damn cliffhanger.

I remember back in 1949 when they announced this and mentioned it was built for IE7,

hopefully this has changed since the setting could be interesting for an MMO.

Aw man, this is a game I thought looked really interesting back when it was first announced. Watching this trailer left me decidedly underwhelmed.

Looking at the wiki page, the game's supposed to be an MMORPG, so I should hope it has plenty of adventure elements to it.

I think this trailer is supposed to showcase the environment only. Everything else -- the animations, faces, combat, etc. -- looks placeholder. I assume those other parts are still getting worked on a great deal before they their own trailer.

Nope. Never again Funcom! The lie that was Age of Conan still stings. This company is all about leaning heavily on graphics and sacrificing everything else. They are just in it for the short term buck. Never again!

I agree, those are quite jarring when compared to the rest if it. Still be interested to play it. Have the given an estimated date on it yet though? If it's close to swtor I am afraid that will have my attention. Not to mention there are so many questions I have about this game and so few answers.

Hell I'll still give it chance, as it looks interesting enough. I just realised it was an MMO, which further peaked my interest in the game. I'll just hope they have face mask's in the game so I can cover up the characters weird faces.

I've been watching this game develop for a couple of years now and I am very cautiously optimistic for it.  The last 5 years it's been cookin' have been turbulent (bankruptcies, lost publishers, etc...), but I love the premise so hope remains.  I love the idea of setting an RPG (albeit an MMO) in the modern world and I don't think it's done enough these days.  It usually space or elves and I'm worn out on those.  That's one reason I also had hopes for Alpha Protocol and The Agency.  Sadly, AP had more annoyances than good in my opinion and The Agency was put out of its misery finally.   So, now I look to the Secret World to fill that modern RPG ache.  Maybe in 2012, it will finally be relieved.  Unfortunately, with TOR, GW2 and who knows what else, it will likely get overlooked by the MMO faithful.  Ah well, there is always the F2P model that soon follows.

I can't wait for the day when we grow beyond step 3.

I just want them to finish The Longest Journey series....Secret World has been in development for like 6 years now...Ragnar must have started Dreamfall 2 somewhere in those many years!

I'm been watching this game for a very long time; glad to see it's still in development instead of dead. The atmosphere, the creature designs, the strong Lovecraft vibes. . . definitely willing to see where this goes.

Meh! Just give me a sequel to Dreamfall, that cliffhanger ending is waiting for you guys!

They should show more of the investigation/puzzle solving aspect. That's what seems really interesting. We're talking finding some clue, then actually looking up information on thing IRL via Google or whatever in order to find further clues. It seems like that ARG they used for marketing is actually a game mechanic.

My god, could that initial voice-over be any more cliched and idiotic? It's not even good in a satirical, ironic way. I've enjoyed Funcom's games in the past, but this looks like complete shit. I'll echo what other said, and hope that Funcom puts out another Longest Journey game. The second in that series wasn't as good as the first, but it was still fun.
