Poppy, tries to hard to appeal to console kiddies, over all not getting me into the new game.

Might rent this one and considering their pedigree.  Unlikely to finish it.

@Nave: It just looks like an expansion pack that doesn't address any of the issues Fallout 3 had. Don't get me wrong I love Fallout 3, I got a platinum trophy in it, but this just looks like more of the same.

@RE_Player92: Fallout New Vegas is actually pretty much the real Fallout 3, as it continues parts of the stories from Fallout 1 & 2, is made by the same team, and set  in the American west, just like those games, Fallout 3 is the one that is just a side tracked point to tell you what happened in the east.

I don't know what the point of another Fallout game is if you're not actually going to freshen it up and improve it.

Gotta be honest, it really doesn't look like they have improved the graphics at all other then added a few more flashing lights. I don't wanna bash the game for it, I loved Fallout 3 but I just wish they could of done more with the graphics, considering how far we have come graphically with games, this one kinda looks.. well..dated,

I always hate in-game games!
The only games that have managed to succeed in even creating a usable in-game game, in my experience, are GTA IV and Red Dead: Redemption.
Other than these two I tend to get really bored very quickly and carry on with the actual game.

Ah well, More fallout is a good thing in my books. Especially since I'm dropping £70 for the CE.
Let's hope Obsidian have made a good game this time round.

(They worked heavily on Neverwinter Nights, and many, including me, loved that game. So they're not entirely bad at finding gold in the games designing area.)

Except that this game has an entirely new location, not just a slight reskin of an old city. So no...

I wasn't the biggest fan of Fallout 3.  I don't know if it's because I didn't give it enough time.  Maybe I'll try this out, even if it doesn't seem to be that different.

Fallout 1 and 2 weren't exactly the shit in the graphics department. For me it all comes down to gameplay really, and what they are promising in New Vegas is very interesting and cool. I'm calling it, when Rage comes out you will all be drooling at the graphics, but gameplay wise it is going to be trash. Just like everything ID released after John Romero (lazy fuck, but you can't take away his contribution to video game industry) and others split. Needless to say I pre-ordered FO:NV and excited to play it. /rant

It's not possible for them to improve the graphics as they are forced to use the same engine. The Oblivion/Fallout 3 engine just can't handle better graphics and still be able to run smoothly on the same console.

I don't mind the graphics, in fact I like them.

But the colours look really off for some reason. Everything looks a bit soft, too pastel and not enough neon and harsher colours filling the world, it needs to look darker, grimmer. I'm trying not to think about it too much.

Well those things you mentioned looked the same yes, along with the shooting, and Fallout 3 had really bad shooting control.  The whole game looks outdated.

@samcotts:   Good point.  For me though, I couldn't get into Fallout 3 because it was so ugly and controlled so clunky.  It was a real turn off.  I really loved Oblivion though, and even Morrowind before that, so I can play games with clunky controls like that for sure, as long as they don't actively try to look ugly.  By the time Fallout 3 came out, I kinda felt like all the NPCs looked like statues and the faces started to look super outdated by then.  I just wish it looked better, like if it could have some more contrast so the visuals popped more, and were more vibrant, instead of everything just looking plain brown.

I assume you have played the game and can come to this conclusion logically and with plenty of facts to back yourself up amirite?

I don't get all the hate against this game specifically on these forums. So what if the graphics have not really changed. Neither Oblivion nor Fallout 3 had spectacular graphics. Also, Obsidian have made changes to the gameplay if you actually go and check out some of the interviews/previews. I am hopeful the story/script should be stronger in this game considering Obsidians pedigree for at least writing good stories. The inclusion of some of the lead devs from the original Fallouts means that they do have some experience working on this franchise as well.

Wayne Newton is creepy.

I will never forget that one time in Fallout 3 when I was sneaking through a creepy, ghoul infested house while my Pipboy was playing " I don't want to set the world on fire" ... if this game gives me anything close to that im sold on it.

I think the DLC comparison is fucking mental. Seriously. This is going to offer over 100 hours of gameplay, how can you even compare it to DLC. Yeah, it looks and probably plays mostly the same, but it's the story and exploration that make a Fallout game great, and when you're offering as much as New Vegas promises too, you're getting more than enough content for $60/£40.

I'm getting internet ragey over here.

I'm looking forward to this game, but it seems pretty disingenuous when one of the guys said there'll be "load of people milling around" and the video shows maximum 5 people.

Wow, really? I mean I love Fallout 3 but the shooting was fun and tight in my opinion.

What didn't people like about it? I thought it played great.

Only thing I am worried about New Vegas is that I haven't played Fallout 1 and 2 and I here the stories tie to this...

@samcotts Yeah I can agree with that, the story, exploration and just about everything made the game so good.

New Vegas looks to be Fallout 3 but better.

Can't wait to get my collectors edition on launch day! :D
