Mass Effect 3 Launch Trailer

That "go and give 'em hell, you were born to do this" line from Garrus kind of sounds like the thing you tell another soldier as you're about to die holding the line.

Thats the world we live in. Games are expensive as hell to make, so it makes sense to turn everything you can into a franchise. Much lower risk involved in continuing a franchise than launching a new, untested IP. Its not the most creatively fulfilling route the industry could have taken, but at least there still is an industry.

Well mass effect was a new type of game that bioware was trying something new. With a new IP it had the backbone of what KOTOR was but they added real time shooting combat. They did have some elements of real time combat but not as action focused as mass effect.

That is an expertly crafted trailer. It totally does the job of getting me hyped.

At the end of the day it's just a game. Maye I'll play a male Shephard this time because in ME2 I got screwed out of boning Miranda and had to watch that awkward Kelly "sexy" dance. Ugh..

The cinematography seems out of place. It's effective at making the game look like an action movie though, yeah.

Did you play the demo? The first half of it was so full of action movie tropes. It was a little awkward and didn't feel right for the series at all. The second half was fine though, which I imagine will be how most of the game is. Mass Effect 2 had a similar problem where the beginning and ending weren't very good.

Demos are VERY specific vertical slices.

Two Steps From Hell - Protectors of the Earth is the track they used if anyone is interested. Super on the nose, but whatever.

People complaining about Shepard getting his bone on are grasping for straws. Is it such a big deal that Shepard is having a moment of sex while the Reapers are attacking Earth? Really? For all you know he is about to lead the fleet to their final battle (which is probably true, considering how boning worked in the other ME games). Let the man get his.

Looks like the trailer Jeff was wanting at E3. I'm very excited for this. Really enjoyed the demo & can't wait to see how it concludes.

This game can go either way, but the advertising for it is starting to get to me.

I'm not quite sure how are you able to call out people on "mob mentality" when there are far far fewer people who are critical then the actual mob numbers of people are pissing their breeches for joy at this trailer? (at least on GB and including moi)

I do so hate such black and white trappings :P

I read the posts there now and again (aside from the spoilery ones) and there are just as many people liking the game as those critizising it. In fact the biggest and most frequent posters seem to be those defending the game (just looking at the list now). I realise you might feel like a minority against a tide, but part of that is due to posting so much in the defense of a game you like (i've been there). As a result you by default argue against far more people then normally and naturally don't notice those saying neutral/positive things about the game as much. I frequently see some OP post a negative remark and then 10 people jump on him/her for it. And trailers like this one have far more people praising the game.

My actual point being that "mob mentality" is an easy excuse to throw around and degrading one to boot to those people with legitimate negative feelings (not just blaaagh this game will sux attitude) as such i really dislike when it's being used to clump a group of people who disagree with you together while simultaneously dismissing their opinions as of no real value.

If you're going to defend the game against those that don't share you opinion, keep at it, that's admirable. Just don't lower yourself to the level of using the "mob mentality" dismissal imo.
