Meet the 'Savages' of Far Cry 3

I'm weirdly interested in this game now. Far Cry 2 was such a weird, disappointing game that I'd written this one off initially.

Is it just me or is that lady wearing a shirt now when she wasn't before? Or is it a different character?

@VVaffley: DO you not remember the first farcry and how it was about mutants or whatever? I think drugs/hallucination are perfectly fine and in the style of farcry.

@AlexW00d: whenever the game "opens its mouth," that's partly when i tune out. it's pretty, but not a lot going on upstairs.

Okay, my brain is getting confused.

1. They showed the first footage of the game way back when and it looked fantastic. Some might call it riveting, some might call it a return to the first Far Cry's style, some might have called it a departure instead.

2. Theeen the marketing picked up. Dubstep trailers, iffy psychological twists with television sets and drugs, and the whole "found footage" junk. They've been showing off what are potentially the worst parts of the game for a long time now.

3. Now we get an alright trailer that makes it almost look like a proper Far Cry game. After the aforementioned (and other) crappy things, should we still care? Because frankly if they hadn't pulled any of the marketing stuff noted in 2 which is obviously meant to appeal to the mainstream crowd - if the only trailers for this game were the E3 reveal trailer, this one, and maybe one more in between, I'd actually be interested in the game.

I'm just not sure what to feel anymore.

Please, fix sneaking and AI that don't have x-ray vision like farcry 2. I know its a shooter, but whats the point in having all that dense jungle if you can't sneak up on a dude and take him out quietly without the entire camp knowing. I the original far cry, you had stones you could throw.

Why not just you know, shoot him?

Still really looking forward to this, looks great.

If this game has me doing a Haka I'm on fucking board.

Only 2 usb ports is still kind of a joke. The 360s now have 5, the least sony could have done is put one on the back so my PS eye isn't reaching to the front. Also I really hated when the psp went to the cheap manual opening for the UMDS, I feel the same way with this drive. I'm actually kinda happy I still have a old 80 GB PS3. Anyway, color me intrigued. I don't know if I like the way this game is shaping up or not, but I do know that I want to see the final product.

No, it's not better. I'd rather have generic characters that are still actual characters than to have characters that are just there to tell you to do stuff and that's it.

Say what you want but far cry 2 had a good, unique, coherent flavour. This looks like a generic blockbuster action movie. I like the characters and setting of far cry 2 much more than this.

I bet this game will look fantastic and play great on PC.

Everything looks like the most interesting part of the game. WANT.

The hallucination stuff looks by far the most interesting part of this game.
