All we've seen of the single-player so far (afaik) is the sniper segement and the Apache segement. The sniper video looked good but could easily be deceiving. The Apache-on-rails gameplay  on the other hand was atrocious. You can't make videos bragging about your authenticity and then make something like that.  edit: oh and that video where you have to run up and place red smoke on an MG nest because you don't have a laser designator, a 203 with smoke rounds or any common sense. But at least you have a SAW with no recoil. "
The singleplayer may or may not be good, I'm just saying this video wasn't about the multiplayer, which is what you were talking about.

Because nothing is more realistic than the Taliban. Wait, they aren't in the game? You named them what? Opposing Forces? Really?

Its so authentic. You have to know to shoot the shoots and don't shoot the no-shoots. That shit gets RAW.

For a lot of people, they've been brainwashed since their childhood to believe that war automatically equates to glory. It's part of the ongoing militarisation of society. It's part of the same reason it's deemed unacceptable to criticise military actions no matter how blatantly criminal they may be. And the only reason the military is afforded such a position is simply because it is the ultimate act of submission to the state and government agendas in most countries. The military is the ultimate model of society they wish to create, a subservient, non-critical one, with people who are willing to fight to the death for elite interests. It's not about sacrifice for the greater good, it's about doing as you're told. Look how vehemently whistleblowers and critical people inside the military are treated, they get reduced to third class citizens and have many of their rights stripped away.

Hahahahahahahahaha....hahahahahahaha....are you really equating life expectancy in a game to life expectancy in a real combat situation.  If it actual were 90 seconds we'd run out of soldiers pretty damn quick

Hey, let's have these guys sit around in someone's tool shed instead of some comfy studio because that really brings out the war-ness of their pixelated eyes.

I've already got my pre-order in, but honestly, I'm not interested in any game that simulates a real military op.

Just something to keep in mind about the smoke placement.  A shot from an M203 can give away your position.  If they were needed to be stealthy and had a good escape, then placing it by hand is their best option.  I'm not trying to defend the gameplay, I haven't played the singleplayer to be able to say.  I just wanted to point out that there are reasons and situations that can require different tactics.

Been playing the PC demo for a while today.  It immediately feels better than it did before, but still don't know that I want it.  The rewards and unlock system doesn't do much for me.  The forward spawning leads to consistent spawn deaths.  Defenders have a major advantage.  I still get caught on geometry I shouldn't.   Although I still had a good amount of fun despite those problems.

You've got to feel sorry for the FPS being released between freakin Halo and Call of Duty. Either you bought Halo or you're waiting for Black Ops, straight up. This game is going to be a very, very expensive blip on the radar in between the real FPS juggernauts.

I'm sorry did at one point one of them say "I tell them a scenario and within 30 minutes I get to see the results"

Yeah, because A.I scripting, level design and various other components take half an hour.

Anyone else wondering how they got those super top secret operatives to consult for them? Just one phone call to Delta Force HQ, or months of paperwork? I don't know, but it seems unlikely to me, that just some random entertainment company can get couple of these bad boys on camera and to consult for them. Just because EA wants to have an authentic game. Anyone else finds this strange or unlikely, or am I just too suspicious?

Did you watch the video? They were firing their weapons all the way up to the objective. If they were going to do that then they should have just sat back at a safe distance and fired a 203.

@Overwatch: Special forces troopers get leave eventually, and when they're on leave, they probably could stand to make a quick buck playing video games and telling war stories.  Or maybe they're ex-special forces, I don't know.  Either way, I know it's easy to get military people to consult for pay.  It's good work if you can get it.

Apparently playing an FPS opens one's eyes to the inevitable wholesale destruction of mother Earth at the hands of global mechanized war.
