I like Alex and Patrick, but I don't like youtube-ish videos of people staring into webcams and saying "hey you guys". Jeff somehow makes it work in the jar videos, not sure why.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Fuck Phil Fish. He is a toxic personality (or at least his public schtick is) and this industry is better off without him. He took everybody who supported him and bought his broken game (although apparently amazing, but I'll never know because his patch wiped my save), and told us all to fuck off and buy it again on PC because he didn't want to cough up $40K for his screw up. Everything that went wrong with that game was everybody's fault but his, and as flawed as MS' patch policies are they are in principle crafted to prevent this exact thing from happening.

Call me a jaded consumer all you want, but no big company would get away with this, and I can't think of any indie dev that would actually treat their customers and supporters so poorly. All that ever came out of him was hate, and while it sucks that it got so personal towards him this whole thing is a shining example of that you get what you give.

Sorry for that, but it pissed me off that people treat him as some sort of god (when really it's just wanting to gawk at the trainwreck) when there are so many indie devs who have done far more, and have far more well constructed and informative opinions on the industry.

Loving this video though! Look forward to it becoming a regular thing! :)

Tell me one indie developer who would want to cough up $40,000 for a patch? I'm not going to presume he has that much money from the sales and even if he did, it would be dumb to waste it all on a patch with a ridiculous fee that shouldn't be there in the first place. You think $40,000 is a reasonable price to pay for an indie developer? When other services like Steam do it for free?

If it was, Microsoft wouldn't have backed down on it and recently announce that any developer can patch their game for free on the XBLA service.

I wouldn't have guessed that Alex and Patrick would have such a good dynamic. This is going to be a grand regular feature.

Did you watch their PAX panel? They were firing off each other. Here's my gif of a bit that made me laugh so hard:

@assinass: Oh I'm not doubting that. Of course the system that monetarily punishes fuckups isn't going to work on those with the money to burn. But the bottom line is he knew those terms going into his MS contract (unless he's an idiot who didn't read it), but then proceeded to sell something that didn't work. He then fucked it up further trying to fix it, and I don't recall even once him even taking responsibility for that. Everything has been everybody else's fault, and if you did support him and want to keep playing the game well then you better buy it again. Meanwhile he's had a year to according to him do pretty much nothing, except apparently plan a sequel. Not saying he's rich, but of all the people involved with Indie Game The Movie he's the only one who's done fuck all except be an asshat (or indie darling, depending on who you ask) on Twitter.

He could have stuck it to Microsoft so badly about this without telling the people who bought his game to go fuck themselves, but he didn't do that. He could have come to his supporters, hat in hand, so sorry for fucking up, but willing to make it right to the people who supported him by giving them the game for free on PC. If he expects his supporters to cough up more money, shouldn't he maybe have been willing to do the same?

At least the people who bought The War Z could have gotten a refund...

I made a background/intro image for this new awesome feature. Let me know what you think. Does it need a logo maybe?

Ohhh, logo? How about the Raisin Bran logo - the sun holding two scoops of raisins - but a Giant Bomb holding two scoops of Patrick and Alex instead? :3

Can someone please link me to the Brad/PhilFish-talk Patrick mentioned? I tried the site search and google (youtube AND site: giantbomb.com), but I couldn't find it. Thanks in advance!

Nintendo hardware always seems to roll to a slow start. I'm pretty sure the Wii phenomenon was an aberration.
