Holy Shit! I did not expect them to announce a new endurance run. Can't wait to find out which game it is.

Since our cameras had to be far from the venue's audio mixing board, we had to use wireless transmitters, which can experience interference, especially when in a room with 800 people, each of which has an electronic device of some kind. That's what you're hearing when the audio "pops" or "clicks." There are portions of the audio that had such bad interference that I muted them entirely and substituted the audio from a shotgun mic mounted on the camera in the back of the room. That's what you're hearing when it sounds like the fidelity has been reduced. Such are the challenges of getting clean audio at trade shows!

I am so mad that I didn't get a chance to go out there due to life things going on, plus I was sick a couple months ago and still in recovery. :(

First Q&A question was cool. I agree the tech on this site is truly amazing an waaaay better than sites like IGN, Gamespot, etc. Props to Dave and his team!

Dude, does Patrick have to be part of all the best content on this site? I'm not trying to hate, but the crew needs to realize that there are those of us that prefer just having the original BombCast posse in our daily dose of Giant Bomb. They hired him as a newsman, why can't he just do the news?

I want to spend hours getting a Shiny Miyamoto and post it on Youtube. It'll be sweet.

@Foxtrot0245: Because Whiskey Media doesn't put it's employees in cubicles like IGN, Gamespot or other big gaming sites.

I like when they mix stuff around with the Bombcast and other content. Patricks' focus is still the news but he's a good addition to the podcast as well.

Man, what *did* happen to that Kasavin-guy? Forever shall it remain a mystery.

@JFApollo: Yea, I like when they mix it up too, but it doesn't feel like they do that nearly as much anymore. When there is an opening (and many times when there is not) they cram PK in to fill the gap. That's fine every once in a while, but where are the Alex/Dave/Drew episodes? Constantly pigeon-holing the same hit-or-miss news guy into the BombCast is getting really old and annoying; so, again, I would LOVE if they would "mix stuff around."

And I should say that I don't expect him to be put into a cubicle or anything like that, in fact, I actually want him to be on an episode here and there, even though I am very much not a fan of his. Drew does video/technical stuff, Alex does... whatever Alex does now, and Dave works on the site. They used to drop by all the time and it was great. I just hope that the same balance will be found for Patrick, where he can be a newsman 95% of the time, and drop into the BombCast and other GB content occasionally to mix it up.

@Dberg: I totally did that too. I don't think I've watched anything except sports since.

Shame the panel got cut short a bit, but still good job overall. Another fine PAX appearance by the GB crew.

@Foxtrot0245: Yes, I agree with most of your points. I would love to see more Drew, Dave and Vinny content as well. Have you seen the quick look where those 3 guys try to get an airplane in the sky? It is probably one of my favorite videos on the site. But I think the reason we don't see them that often anymore is because they are too busy with making content for the WM sites. Hopefully the new membership stuff they are planning to do will involve more of the behind-the-scenes guys as well.

Alex is still somewhere on the east coast till the end of the year so it's difficult for him to join in on video features and the bomb cast, so it kinda makes sense to me Patrick shows up more often because of that, he is after all partof the GB core crew.

@JFApollo: That makes a lot of sense, and I'm sure that the new content will be worth it, knowing those guys. However, the fact still remains that Patrick is crammed into a lot of content as the unnecessary fifth wheel way too much lately. Otherwise, I commend you for having calmed my fervor, haha.

Great panel guys. Really heartwarming moment from Patrick at the end was great. Love you guys.

@99X: He's a great guy, I'm sure. The BombCast has been comprised of Jeff, Ryan, Vinny and Brad since just about the beginning and it is a formula that has worked so well for them in the past few years. I guess my only real question is that since things were/are so great with the site and membership is on the steady rise (I'm only assuming), why do they keep pushing Patrick on their fans so hard? What is so important about getting his face and voice on the majority of content on the site?

Patrick was hired as part of the internal editorial staff; of course he's going to be in editorial stuff like videos.

Basically, what you're saying is that GB should not expand their editorial staff. Solid business plan you have there.

Because they like him? I don't see the problem here. They aren't going to tell a coworker and friend to stay out of sight and just do articles. That's kind of an absurd expectation, if you ask me. That's never been a quality of Giant Bomb. It's a personality based site. Patrick isn't just some guy they hired because his resume looked impressive, I'd imagine they hired him because they felt he was the right "fit" for how they operate, knowing full well he'd be in their video content.

I'm not saying everyone has to love the guy, I just don't see what he's done to deserve the hostile attitude. He seems really grateful to be a part of the site. If he came in and acted like he runs the place I could understand, but that's not the vibe I get from the guy.

I don't often comment on GB, but that panel was fucking great.
