Not to be reductionist about this, but this game is just a downloadable Sega Rally Revo, right?

Drew Look

Edited by JJGIANT

Drew's constant need to compare this game with Dirt is odd. Completely different games with no ambition of replicating each other.
Posted by Troncek

What's for TNT tonight?

Posted by NeilRapalee
@Circ: Basically.

Well a couple of extra cars and a racing suit for your avatar as well.  The physics are slightly tweaked too.  A little easier to control when compared to Revo in my opinion.
Posted by damswedon
@JJGIANT: I think its is more to do with Dirt 3 being out next week.
Posted by onarum

that looks terrible, well maybe I'm just spoiled because Dirt 2 is so effin good, but still....

Video over YEAH!

@NeilRapalee: Cool deal, thanks for the (specific!) info.

Oh man, the more Drew the better!

GAME OVER YEEAAAH!!

The word ARCADE has a lot to do with most of the feel...like comparing Ridge Racer to Gran Turismo or Forza.

Basically, just with way fewer options and better handling. I bought it, and I'm surprised they couldn't figure out that the Championship mode is just an overtake series, hence him coming in ninth place on the second race. It counts them down as you pass throughout the three-part series.

It's nice to have Drew in on QL every once in a while.  We know he'll be in on the Dirt 3 QL next week.

Posted by 71Ranchero

Maybe I am old but every time he hit a wall and acted like it was no big deal, I thought to myself he just lost a tenth off his lap time.

I will be getting this game. It looks like they nailed what its supposed to be 100%. Give me Daytona next Sega.

cars look like they weigh nothing, looks like giant RC cards or something

Posted by Y2Ken

I did enjoy the last Sega Rally game when I played it, got a lot of time in the demo but never actually ended up buying it.

Edited by zerdune
Revo can be had nowadays for the same price than this game. And it has more content. I rather get that if I'm itching some Sega Rally action. But the fact is I have never liked Sega Rally on home consoles. For example Sega Rally 2 on the Dreamcast is boring but the full arcade cabinet version is amazing. In fact I can go now play Sega Rally 3 in the nearest movie theater. So as long as I can do that I don't need another console version.

Do they think Dirt is a sim?

It wouldn't be a sega rally game without it.

Oh Sega Rally, I remember you used to be amazingly fun, and now you're just boring.

Posted by waypoetic

What the? European cars are right handed? That's new! Because i think they only are right handed in the United Kingdom last time i checked! We don't have right handed cars, we drive on the left side juuuust like you guys.

Posted by fox01313

Well Sega, having a race where everyone is on a time trial yet able to collide with the cpu players is quite silly. Seems that the game is rather weak on the consoles but it might be better off in an arcade cabinet.

Posted by WorldDude
@waypoetic: Calm down, it'll be okaaaaaaaay.

@Troncek: According to Ryan's twitter, this week's TNT is a mix of PSN games, like "Wipeout HD, Uncharted 2, Warhawk, Critter Crunch and more".

BTW, the game is made by the guys at Sumo Digital, so you know it's good.

I went in expecting this and the video delivered.

Sega needs to do a new Initial D Arcade Stage for the PS3.. or hell even the 360.

And translate the damn thing when you do it! Not only Japanese people play Initial D Sega . Thanks!

Virtua Davis Rally really sounds too legitimate. It's a little scary.

SEGA  games are so weird.

I found it very funny that Ryan did not realise his race position was carrying from race to race in championship mode.

The PSP version of Revo doesn't have it. :(

Sega Rally Revo is a great game and you guys should play it (in fact, you should've bought it when it was new because then Sega wouldn't have closed Sega Racing Studios and we would've gotten the new Daytona from them so thanks guys >:|).  It is a way more content heavy game than this and a lot of fun.  Still, for what it is, SROA is pretty alright.

Subaru STI is my favorite car ever. Nice to look at it for 20 minutes.

This.

The nostalgia is working for me. I fondly remember old arcade rally games and early Colin McRae Rally games. But with Dirt 3 just around the corner.... yeah.... don't buy this.

As for racing games you can mindlessly play after a hard day's work: Burnout Paradise!
Edited by BlazeHedgehog

Terrain deformation was this game's big claim to fame when it first released. It may have been the first racing game of this gen to do that.

Haha, Diablohead was on the leaderboards in this video. I know that guy! He gifted me my copy of DiRT 2 for the PC for Christmas last year.

Edited by BulletConcerto

Oh Ryan Davis and his magical ability to totally miss the point of a 10 dollar arcade game vs a full 60 dollar retail  product. Hey maybe next they could compare Outrun to Shift 2. Impressive.

The fact that some people will take what he says in this QL as gospel and not check out this game , is what really saddens me.

Posted by WinterSnowblind

I loved the classic Sega Rally game on the Saturn.

This is nothing like it.  Wouldn't recommend it at all, especially with Dirt 3 coming.
Edited by Solh0und

I'll just stick to playing this at the arcade....

I would use manual transmission in games like Initial D and MMT,

Yep. That's what a rally car looks like
